Inauguration of Digital Library The inaugural function of Diphu Government College Digital Li- brary was held on 18th December, 2015. This digital Library, the first in Assam and the first in the college level of North East India, was inaugu- rated by Padmashree Rongbong Terang on behalf of Hon’ble Minister of Education, Assam in presence of Pro Vice Chancellor, Assam University Diphu Campus and Deputy Commissioner, Karbi Anglong. The respected invitees and guests highly appreciated the Principal, Diphu Government College in presence of huge gathering for such a fruitful step in his tenure. Total 25300 Nos of books are brought under the Digital Library System. Effort is funded by DHE, Government of Assam along with the incessant and sincere effort of Principal, Diphu Government College. APSC Combined Competitive (preliminary) Exam-2015 APSC-CC(P) examination- 2015 was held on 03 rd January, 2016. Out of 905 registered candi- dates for Diphu Government Col- lege, 459 candidates appeared in the Farewell Meeting A farewell meeting was organized on 13 th January, 2016 to bid adieu to two of our esteemed Grade IV office staff Sri Bongsidhar Boro and Sri Nareswar Sharma due to their superannuation. The meeting was presided by Dr N K Sar- mah, Principal, Diphu Government Col- lege. The assembly of a large number of teachers, office staff and students made it grand success. Condolence Meeting A condolence meeting was held on 21th January, 2016 in the col- lege to commiserate the sudden demise of Probin Saikia, Ex- lecturer of Economics, Diphu Gov- ernment College, Diphu.

    Inauguration of Digital Library

    First Departmental Seminar of political Sci-

    ence was organized on 22nd January 2016 in DGC

    under the august effort of coordinator, IQAC, Diphu

    Government College, Prof. Ashim Bora and was

    Chaired by Prof. I. Siddique. In the seminar, Dr

    Mousumi Choudhuri presented her academic re-

    search finding on “From Classroom to Power Plan:

    Interrogating Political Potential of Students in Diphu”

    while Ms. Kareng Rongpipi delivered speech on

    “Social Ceremonies and Beliefs of Karbi”.

    Action Plan for the Academic Year

    20016-2017 IQAC executive committee meeting:

    An IQAC EC meeting was held on 4th January,

    2016 in the Conference Hall of Diphu Government Col-

    lege. Dr. N.K. Sarmah, Principal of Diphu Government

    College and Chairman of IQAC presided over the first

    EC meeting of IQAC. Heads of all departments were

    invited to the meeting and the following comprehensive

    10 point action plans were envisaged, discussed and

    taken on board for academic year 2016-17.

    To prepare Annual Quality Assurance Return

    (AQAR) for the years 2009-2010 to 2014-2015

    by November, 2016.

    To organize a National Seminar on Humanities

    and Social Science.

    To continue to publish a half yearly research

    journal on science.

    To publish a half yearly research journal on Hu-

    manities and social science.

    To organize Annual Conference of Teachers and

    Guardians Association of Diphu Government

    College

    To organize Alumni Association Conference

    To conduct extension activities through NSS

    and NCC with prime importance.

    To enroll new volunteers of NSS in the month

    of July/August, 2016 with due replacement.

    To publish a monthly Newsletter of Diphu Gov-

    ernment college on the 23rd day of every month

    Necessary steps will be taken to increase the

    pass percentage of under graduate students like

    attraction of students through smart class etc.

    In the meeting required core committees were

    constituted for the purpose of implementation of the

    charter.

    A training to the teaching faculties on smart class was

    held on 11th January, 2016. A good number of faculty

    members participated in the programme.

    UGC-Major Research Project Mr Jayanta Madhab Borgohain, M. Sc. (Physics) from Tezpur University has been engaged as Project

    Fellow under UGC-Major Research Project entitled “Estimation of Moho depth and Source parameters

    of earthquakes originated in Shillong-Mikir Hills Plateau and its adjoining region of northeastern

    region (NER) of India: An approach towards the Estimation of Earthquake Hazard”. The project was

    awarded to Dr. Dipok Kumar Bora, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics by UGC, New Delhi vide order No. F. No. -43-522/ 2014 (SR) dated 28-09-2015.

    Dr A B Rajib Hazarika, Asst Professor of Mathematics, was conferred Best Educationist

    Award for his distinguished service in the college by international Institute of Education & Man-

    agement, New Delhi. Moreover, he was selected as the international member of organizing com-

    mittee for International conference of computational Astrophysics 2015, Japan.
