AIM OF PROJECT

• Preliminary study about the feasibility of the hydroelectric project at the concerned area.

• Design and estimation of the project.• Detailed study of the implementation of the project in the

area.

Page 5: DEVELOPMENT OF MICRO HYDRO-ELECTRIC PROJECT

The 3 phases of the project

• Phase 1:Collection of data at various times of the year. The data include flow rate, head, etc.

• Phase 2:Analyze the recorded data to understand the requirements of the developing project and the problems and solutions.

• Phase 3:A complete report regarding the feasibility and development of the project.

PRELIMINARY STUDY

A visit to Aruvikkuzhi was done on 21st November 2015.The preliminary observations recorded are as follows:• The head of water calculated is 10m.• Water flow rate is 200 litre/second.• The output power is approximately 19.6 kW.

Again,a visit was conducted at Aruvikkuzhi on 9th January 2016.The observations then recorded are:

• The head of water calculated is 10m.• Water flow rate is 180 litre/second.• The output power is approximately 17.6 kW.

Significance of the project

• If the project is feasible, the next step is the implementation of the hydel project.

• The implemented project will provide electricity to the village nearby.

• Electronic load control.

DESCRIPTION ABOUT THE ANALYSIS

• By the observation of various parameters, the water fall is checked for sufficient flow rate for most part of an year.

• The site is checked whether there is adequate space to build the power house.

• By the analysis of head and flow rate, the output power is calculated.

• These data are analyzed throughout the year .

• The feasibility of the project is thus checked.

• The estimation and cost can be calculated if feasible.
