Home ReadingHome Reading commenced last week, with notes sent home outlining the process for recording your child’s Home Reading on their yellow Home Reading cards. Please encourage your child to read to you each night.
Please check your child’s bookshelves at home as there are still some books outstanding from 2016. It is important that all students read every day and record it on their home reading card from K-6 whether it’s with school readers or their own books.
HomeworkAs well as reading each night, we encourage students to get in the habit of completing regular homework tasks.
This year we will be using a matrix format for homework K-6, with a point system being used to encourage all students to complete set homework tasks. The first 3-6 homework matrix will be sent home today and due back Friday 3rd March. K-2 went home last Monday and will be due back this Friday.

We would also like some volunteers who may like to give some time during recess or lunch breaks to teach chess, knitting, board games or other passive activities for our students to engage with during break times.
All K-2 parents are welcome to come and join us on THURSDAY 25th FEBRUARY in the primary library from 1pm.
Have lunch with your child and fund out about our Reading Together Program and how you can support your child at home with reading.
We look forward to you joining us in this valuable program. If you would like further information please see Ms Julie Goldie.

2017 Swimming CarnivalOur first major sporting carnival for the year was a huge success. This year we were lucky to escape the extreme heat that the high school students endured the day after. All students participated with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship and it was so good to see lots of students getting in and having a go.
The students thoroughly enjoyed the cool off during the novelty ‘Salmon Run’ with Hall scoring a whopping 108 points. The end of the day was finished with the relays. I don’t know who was more excited to compete in the Senior Relay... the primary students, the high school students or the teachers and Mrs McNally!!!
Once again, a huge thank you to Mrs Amy Rumpler who organised our carnival and to the high school teachers and sports coaching students who year after year do a phenomenal job encouraging and looking after our students.
The Zone School team will be announced in the next newsletter. Please note qualifying times apply and your child will be issued with a permission note if they were successful in qualifying for this carnival.
