About UsThank you for choosing DesignWorks! As a Northwestern-owned and student-run design firm, we offer you the best design talent Northwestern University has to offer. Our designers cover a wide range of disciplines and specializations, from print to web and everything in between.

Our History

OurMissionDesignWorks is a company devoted to offering high-quality design services to members and groups of the Northwestern community. The mission of DesignWorks is both to address the design needs of Northwestern as well as to generate design opportunities for talented students.

DesignWorks was formerly known as Promotional Student Designs, launched in the spring of 2013 as a graphic designer alliance for Northwestern University. It was created with the intention of raising aesthetic awareness on campus and meeting the community’s needs for a high-quality graphic design service. Met with beyond expected market demands, the team became profitable and decided to become a business after merging with an existing advertisement company, AdWorks. After a series of meetings between AdWorks and Promotional Student Designs, the two companies decided to merge and expand product offerings. With new capabilities and a new team, we revamped our name to DesignWorks.

Work

LogoWith a DesignWorks logo you can transform your department, business, or student group into a household name! Everyone will associate you with your head-turning insignia, and your logo will help turn your group into the brand you always knew you could be. Our final deliverable will be a logo with a transparent background rasterized in multiple dimensions and a .ai and/or .eps file for your future use.

Do you have an event or info session coming up, but don’t know how to advertise it properly? Our talented designers know what designs catch the eye, and your flyer is guaranteed to attract the attention of passers-by. Our designers can make flyers of all sizes, and can do anything ranging from illustrations to geometric designs in order to advertise your event!

With the DesignWorks social media package your department, business, or student group will have the online presence you always hoped to have! You’ll receive a high resolution Facebook profile picture and cover photo that you can use not only for Facebook events and pages but also for other social media platforms like Twitter and Instagram. Our designers will optimize sizes and resolutions for upload compression and orientation.

Social Media Brochures

Our designers can create templates for brochures of any kind! If you have a word document full of important information, your DesignWorks brochures will make your content visually appealing and easy to read!

WebsitesA DesignWorks website is the best way to enhance your online presence! Our talented web developers and layout specialists can do everything from re-designing an existing site to building you a site from scratch. If you have a specific project in mind feel free to ask us for more information!

ApparelDesignWorks apparel designs will help your organization stand out from the crowd. Our creative designers will give you a look all your own, and help your members stylishly display their pride in the organization. We can work with a variety of apparel—let us know what you have in mind!

SpecificationsHere at DesignWorks, we offer one free revision after an initial draft. So when submitting a project, we ask that you include a few details to make sure we can deliver the best product on the first try. We’d like to know about the following:

• Do you have any branding elements (specific fonts, color themes)?• If the project is not a logo, do you have one you’d like us to incorporate

into the project?• Would you like the project designed for use in color or black and white?• In apparel designs, have a specific method of printing will you be using

in mind (CMYK, grayscale, spot printing, etc.)?

Content• Do you have any slogans?• What specific copy would you like us to include?• If your project revolves around an event, what is the date/time/location?• Is there anything you’d like us to emphasize or highlight within the content?

Sizing• Is there a predetermined size you’d like the project to be made in

(A4, A3, US Letter, Tabloid)?• For social media projects what dimensions would you like for

Facebook profile/cover photos?• What resolution would you like (for printing or for uploading)?

3.DesignWorks assigns the client a carefully chosen designer that best fits the client’s design needs. The designer makes an initial design based on client specifications and puts it on InVision by the agreed upon due date.

DesignProcess

1.The client fills out the DesignWorks Google form with information about their desired project, necessary deadline, contact information, etc.

Within 24 hours the client will receive a response from DesignWorks with a price quote, timeline information, a DesignWorks starter kit, another Google form asking for all project specifics, and a contract with our terms of service.

5.Once the revision is complete DesignWorks will issue an invoice to the client. The client will then have five business days to make their payment. Cash, check, and transfer are all accepted.

6.4.Once the client’s payment has been received, DesignWorks will send the client their non-watermarked final product!

The client will have two business days to provide feedback and to communicate with the designer over Invision. This feedback will be incorporated within three business days and the client will be able to view the final product on InVision.

(Optional: if the client would like further rounds of revision they can follow the same procedure as before but will incur an additional revision fee.)
