Sydney Opera House Architect: Jorn Utzon

Although the design brief stated that it has to be iconic, the final design proposal started from simple diagrammatic design proposal. Utzon wanted the shell to be portrayed like while sails in contrast to the deep blue water ocean it stood upon. The construction process required an advance technology of precast concrete and tiles in order to build the massive shell. It became a well-known architecture as it requires a new technology at its time of construction and it has become a great in f luence in a rch i tectu re d i scour se . Furthermore, the simple design of shell has successfully scoped the design intent to make it an iconic architecture.

Falling Water Architect: Frank Llyod Wright Bas ic geomet ry has s t rong ly influenced the design and the plans of Falling Water. Falling Water is des ign in i n ten t to redef ine r e l a t i o n s h i p b e t w e e n m a n , architecture and nature. Wright integrated the dsign with the waterfall by constructing the house right on top of it. Fa l l ing Water has in f luenced architecture discourses to certain ex tent as i t has success fu l l y emphasized the strong relationship between the architecture, the client and the site. Furthermore, the design i n t e n t t h a t e x t r a c t e d f r o m overlapping of basic geometry, has successfully made this house an iconic trademark of Wright’s work.

Relishing Senses. Personal Project

A major design project that was done in my first semester of architecture study, was based on a design brief of a listening place in Carlton garden site. The design idea is based on senses; creating a place for people for tranquility and relishing their senses. A t ree house was designed as to create an eye-c a t c h i n g p l a c e a n d t o embedded it to the site. The shape of the tree house was designed based on the shape of senses (ear, eye, mouth). This is a simple based design, yet it could influence architecture discourse as the direct translation of shape c o u l d m a k e a f o r m o f architecture.
