Abstract— The Blood Transfusion Services (BTS) is a
voluntary program and Blood Donation System
(BDS) are used to save many people lives. Our aim is
to satisfy every blood request in the Nation and
motivate individuals who are willing to donate blood.
The proposed system motto is to overcome the
communication barrier between donor and acceptor
by providing a direct communication link by using
low cost, low power consume Raspberry pi 3 model B
kit. It requires 3.3V and 2A power supply. Overall
communications takes place by sending the SMS
(Short Message Service) which is suitable for all
mobile devices and alert the donors through android
application. “Blood donors alerting system” is to
increase the voluntary donors and to identify the
donors, whose information is stored in a database, the
donors are alerted via GSM based smart card and
Raspberry pi module. The acceptor (the person who
receive the blood) message is displayed in the display
unit and the nearest donors is identified by manually
using android application. This work will help to find
the donors and seekers to easily accomplish their
cause and save many of our lives.

I. INTRODUCTION
The blood donation is a noble act that involves
transfusion of blood to the other people who is in
need of it. Every year 4 to 5 crore of blood units are
needed in our nation but unfortunately only 2.5
crore of blood unit is available. Every two seconds
one person needs blood. Every day our nation
needs 38,000 units of blood [2]
. Day to day the need
of blood is increased. Every person has different
blood groups. So to fulfill the need of blood and to
remove the communication barrier between the
donors and receiver this proposed system can be
adopted that uses low power and raspberry pi 3
model B. The module acts as a small size system
control system and monitor the whole process.
GSM modem and android application helps to
communicate between the donors to the receiver
via the SMS. Then it is easy to find the donors and
to satisfy the acceptor needs. The raspberry pi
consumes only 3.3V to 5V and 2A [3]
. It is user
friendly system and easy to access peoples.
II. EXISTING SYSTEM
At present the blood bank system are in use which
only alerts the donors through android application [6]
, cloud computing concepts [5]
, and using
raspberry pi 2 model b [1]
. The power consumption
is about 5V [4]
. Here the alert is given through the
SMS. In the existing system it is difficult to store
the database of the new donor details and display
units for alerting more peoples also cannot
implemented.
III. PROPOSED SYSTEM
We improve the performance of the existing
system. In this system acceptor sends the message
to the display unit. The message will be displayed
in the display unit. The display unit is placed in the
hospitals thereby the display notice the peoples
contact acceptor and donate the blood. The system
read the message and separate particular blood
group in database and send message to alert the
donors. It even sends one message to the
administrator. It is alert the admin. Administrator
fined the nearest donor through the android
application. This application searches the nearest
donor with in the 20km to 50km radius using GPS
tracking scheme. The donor database has already
gathered and the information of donors is stored in
the memory card. The new donors can also be stored their details in database using the messaging
service. They increase the donor alerts.
IV. EASE OF USE
A. Raspberry pi 3 Model B
The Raspberry pi module is a small size computer
or small system. In today’s world the Raspberry pi
used many new small devices are invented it is like
mobile phones, video games and automation
process also used. It also works based on
LINEX/UNIX platform. The mini size devices are

used a Broadcom BCM2835. The Broadcom is a
system on chip that contains the ARM176JZFS
with floating purpose, running speed is 700MHZ [7]
. The modules have an ARM Processor to control
and monitor the performance and ARM process
DMA, instruction interface also performed. The
Raspberry pi 3 B module have 40 header pins and 4
power supply.2 pins operates at 2V and other 2
pins operates at 5V. They have one (10/100)
Ethernet port for accessing internet and it is having
four USB ports. The module has one memory card
slot for external memory and the system has
memory of 512Mb SDRAM. The Raspberry pi
works on python coding. It boots from Micro SD
card, running a version of the LINUX and UNIX
operating system (Raspbian). Then the module
having audio output, HDMI output and Display
serial interface slot. The Raspberry pi 3 model B
introduced in 2016.
B. GSM Modem
GSM is stand for Global System for Mobile
communication. They are used to communicate and
share information with mobile devices. The GSM
search the nearest network in the nearby area to
connect and access the mobile phones. They
operate at 850/900MHZ. They have dual band
channel. The GSM based on TTL logic and AT
Commands. GSM share the data speed is up to 9.3-
9.5 Kbps. It is operate at 2V to 5V power supply.
GSM is that the name of a standardization cluster
established in 1982. The GSM process 4 operations
it is test, read, set, execution.

C. Android Application
The android application created using Eclipse
software. Eclipse is an ADT. This android
application locates the donors through GPS
tracking method. They cover 20km to 50km radius
and using this application seeker directly interacts
with donors. The application will able to call and
message via communicate the donors.

E. Facts about the blood supply
Blood donation is an easy and simple process.it can
be done by registering their details in blood banks
or directly come and give the blood. Each and
every blood donors are under taken several tests
like temperature, ph., blood pressure, and pulse for
the safety of the acceptor. Blood donation take
place in 10-12 min total time taken for the process
is 15 min. a healthy person has 10 units of blood in
the body he is going to donate only 1unit .once in
three months the blood donation can be done by the
person .the donated blood are under goes test like
HIV, hepatitis b and c, syphilis and other different
infections disease before given to the patients.[1][2]

VI. OUTPUT
In our nation every day increase the need of blood.
The urgent scenario donor identification is too
difficult so our system provide direct contact
between donors. They acceptor alert the donors
through mobile phone immediately then only
reduced the problem. Then improve alerting system
using the android application it is locate the nearest
donor easily and saves many human lives. This
project work is improve the voluntary blood
donation and accommodate the seeker need in
correct time.

VII. CONCLUSION
By implementing this method, we have a better
system which will help in better interaction
between the blood donors and the blood acceptors.
This process performs the efficient way to reduce
the shortage of blood units and to increase the
blood donors in the nation. This application has a
wide usage and will encourage donors to donate
blood. It helps the acceptors to find the nearest
donors and so the donor’s participation process will
increase. Thereby the acceptors can easily get
blood and the lives of many people will be saved.
VIII. FUTURE WORK
Now we designed the system as the prototype it is
only use full for the Rural and city places.
Therefore it needs to be developed and implement
in global level for the use. We have to maintain the
full data base in the global level to implement it
make increase the blood donor in the global level.
