Entry is FREEAIMS: • To highlight the importance of youth in rural South Australia and in particular the agricultural

show movement .• To identify and encourage enthusiastic, skilful, industrious and unselfish young people . • To give young people a forum to express their views through education and experience and

develop closer links with the primary industries in South Australia .

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Entrants must:• Apply for and complete the entry form .• Agree to provide a copy of their curriculum vitae (CV) and an introductory letter for local,

association and state final judging by the required date .• Provide information indicating their reasons for applying for entry together with CV; indicating

work experience, community participation and agricultural show involvement .• Be residents of South Australia . • For the Rural Ambassador be aged 20 years and under 30 years as at the 1st May 2020

(E .g . born between 2nd May 1990 and 1st May 2000 inclusive) .• For the Young Rural Ambassador be aged 16 years and under 20 years on the 1st May 2020

(E .g . born between 2nd May 2000 and 1st May 2004 inclusive) .• Be enthusiastic and knowledgeable about rural life and affairs and agricultural shows .• As a state finalist consent for your name and contact details to be made available on the

SA Country Shows website for show societies should they wish to contact you .• Be able to spend the required time at the local show, association level finals and be available

to attend the Royal Adelaide Show between 4 .30pm Friday 4th September 2020 to 9 .00pm on Tuesday 8th September 2020 .

JUDGING CRITERIA:• Entrants must wear smart casual clothing suitable for an autumn or spring show .• Entrants to be judged in accordance with the following guidelines:

PAPER PLANE MAKING AND FLYING COMPETITIONIN STADIUM GENERAL RULES1. Paper planes must be made on the day with provided

paper (A4, under 100 GSM)2. Only one piece of paper per plane may be used3. Planes will be judged on the distance they fly4. Children from 3-16 years can compete, but must be

able to make paper plane by themselves, the design and techniques can certainly be practiced before the event.

5. In both preliminary rounds and finals, each entrant will get two throws and will need to use the same plane for each throw. If children make it through to the next round they can construct a new plane or make adjustments.

6. Each distance thrown must land within the marked competition area

7. Competitors must NOT overstep the marked “throwing line/mark”. If this happens the throw will NOT be counted or measured. It will be a foul and they will be given only one more attempt.

8. Distance will be measured in a straight line from the throwing mark to where the plane first hits the ground or an object (whichever first)

9. Cheating or tampering with paper will warrant immediate disqualification.

Plane building time will be between 11am and 1pm with the competition starting at 2pm.Entrants will be in heats of five with the first and second placed planes moving through to the next round,

Theme: Garden ArtCome on women of Penola, show us your talents in creative some garden art that has been constructed out of recycled metal products (for example steel and wire) .

The main body of the final object cannot be any bigger than one metre high and wide, and must be able to be carried into the show grounds . It can be staged on a trestle or hanging if own frame is provided .

Sift flour, place all dry ingredients in basin, mix together. Add melted butter, golden syrup and boiling water to which the carb soda has been added. Place teaspoon of mixture on tray bake until brown.

Semi-Finals will be held at Naracoorte 2019 and Lucindale 2020. No Entry Fee

1. RICH FRUIT CAKE (Recipe to be used – cake not to be iced) (Angas Park Products to be used where

possible)

INGREDIENTS: 250g butter, 250g dark brown sugar, 6 eggs, 250g sultanas, 250g raisins, 200g currants, 100g dates, 60g chopped red glace cherries, 60g mixed peel, 60g chopped almonds, 375g plain flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1 teaspoon mixed spice, 200ml sherry or brandy.

METHOD: Mix together all fruits and soak in the sherry or brandy overnight. Sift together flour, baking powder and spice. Cream together butter and sugar. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then alternatively add the fruit and flour and lastly the chopped

nuts. Mix thoroughly. Place mixture into a prepared square tin (approx. 19-22 cm in size. Bake in slow oven for approximately 3-3 1/2 hours.

GENERAL SHOW REGULATIONSThe following General Regulations have been adopted by the Board of Management and all Entries are accepted in accordance herewith .

1 . Every exhibitor of horses, or sheep who is NOT A MEMBER of the Society will be required to pay DOUBLE ENTRY FEE .

2 . The annual subscription to the Society is Adult single ticket $22, Under 18 ticket $12, 2 day student $12, Aged pensioner $10, Family (2 adults and 3 children under 18 years) $50 . Subscription entitles a member to free admission to the ground and free car admission for the Show .

3 . ENTRANCE FEES MUST BE PAID AT TIME OF ENTRY .

4 . The Board of Management reserves the right to cancel any entry ticket and to order the immediate removal of any diseased or objectionable exhibit .

5 . No exhibit will be permitted to compete unless and until such exhibit shall have been officially entered in the record by the Secretary, and all exhibitors must produce official Entry Ticket to Steward before such exhibit will be permitted to be submitted for Judging .

6 . The name of the exhibitor, the breed of the animal to be exhibited, the name of the breeder if known, also the names of horses, cattle etc . shall in all cases be included in Entry Form .

7 . All outdoor exhibits, except horses, must be in their respective places ready for judging by 10 a .m . on the day of the Show .

8 . A donor of $50 is entitled to membership status and privileges for the year in which the donation is made .

9 . The award of the judges shall in all cases be final provided that no valid objection or appeal is raised as to the right of the exhibit or exhibitor to compete in that class .

10 . No appeal will be entertained unless same shall have been lodged with the Secretary in writing, accompanied by a deposit equal to one-half of the prizemoney, within two hours of the event . The Board of Management reserves the right to forfeit any deposit if appeal is deemed to be trivial or frivolous . Refer to Horse Regulations .

11 . Notwithstanding the absence of any appeal or objection the Board of Management may withhold any prize until satisfied that these regulations have been complied with .

12 . If deemed necessary by the Board of Management, an exhibitor or prizewinner may be required to make a Statutory Declaration covering bona fides of exhibitor or competitor, or the ownership thereof, and noncompliance with this direction will render prize liable to be forfeited .

12a . If only one exhibitor in any one class, only half first or second prizemoney paid .

13 . The judge shall in all cases have the right to withhold a prize if it is considered that the exhibits are not worthy or may award a lesser prize . In any class where there is only one exhibit, first prize will only be awarded on special recommendation of judge .

14 . This Society is affiliated with the South-East of South Australia and Border Show Societies’ Association, and any exhibitor or exhibit subject to disqualification by that Association or by any Show Society affiliated with that Association will be debarred from competition at the Show of this Society during the period of such disqualification or until any appeal that may have been lodged against such disqualification shall have been determined .

15 . Where any exhibit is made in the name of a company or firm, other than a registered company or firm, the names of the individual exhibitors comprising the company or firm will be stated on the Entry Form .

16 . No exhibit will be removed from the Showground before 4pm on the day of the Show unless specifically authorised and infringement of this Regulation may involve forfeiture of prizemoney or other penalty .

17 . Any prizemoney not collected before December 31, 2019 will be deemed to have been forfeited .

18 . Penola P .A . and H . Society are not responsible for errors, omissions and mistakes contained in this schedule .

19. ALL COMPETITORS COMPETE AT THEIR OWN RISK.

20 . The Society reserves the right to cancel or withdraw classes or sections without prior notice .

21 . On receipt of your admission ticket you will be entitled to a membership of the Penola P .A . & H . Society for one or two days .
