SEPARATE BUT EQUAL

When segregation started, it was supposed to be separate but equal.

But it ended up being unequal. Colored people had bad facilities,

schools, couldn’t play national sports and were highly discriminated

against.

THERE WERE MANY PROTESTS, RIOTS, AND

STRIKES TO END DESEGREGATION.

•President Kennedy•President Truman

BROWN VS BOARD OF EDUCATIONThe Brown vs. Board of Education case desegregated public schools.

White parents were not happy about it. President Eisenhower had to send

troops to Little Rock Arkansas high school to protect the first entering

black students.

first African American to be on a national team.

MILITARY DESEGREGATIO

(CHORUS:)We are family

I got all my sisters with meWe are family

Get up ev'rybody and sing

Ev'ryone can see we're togetherAs we walk on by

(FLY!) and we fly just like birds of a featherI won't tell no lie

(ALL!) all of the people around us they sayCan they be that close

Just let me state for the recordWe're giving love in a family dose

(CHORUS x2)

Living life is fun and we've just begunTo get our share of the world's delights

(HIGH!) high hopes we have for the futureAnd our goal's in sight

(WE!) no we don't get depressedHere's what we call our golden rule

Have faith in you and the things you doYou won't go wrong

This is our family Jewel
