Dear Parents and Carers,
Time is flying at Allendale Primary School and we are already halfway
through the term. School is mostly back to ‘normal’ with a number of
programs now reintroduced to ensure student learning continues to
progress. Reading Rockets, small book loans and home reading are
some of the programs we have been able to put back on the school
agenda as COVID-19 rules and regulations are being relaxed.
Parking
I understand we currently have a real issue around
parking, particularly on Marsden Street along the
Cluster and ECE area. The simple fact is we don’t have enough room
to cater for our growing school population at drop off and pick up
times. This issue will not go away quickly and it is much broader than
just Allendale Primary School solving the problem, it will require
involvement from outside agencies and this will take time. I want all
parents to know we have started the process of working towards
resolving this issue. While we work through this, I ask for all parents to
be patient at pick up and drop off times. I have a real concern for
student safety if patience is not displayed by every parent, every day.
I met with one of the local Ranger’s yesterday who patrols our area
and he is committed to working with the school community. However,
please note that fines are a real possibility for anyone parking illegally
and therefore putting student safety at risk. This includes those who
are driving onto footpaths to park, parking against the flow of traffic or
parking in the No Parking areas which then blocks the view of traffic.
All of these actions put our students at risk.
I appreciate the fact that I have very few solutions to the problem as of
today and this does not make parking any easier. Options you could
trial are walking to school some days where possible, carpooling with
another family or parking legally on streets near the school and
walking in with your children. I will continue to update you on the
situation as we move further into the term.

Student Reports
Teachers are currently working on Reports to have them ready
to go home to all families in Week 10. This Semester, there will
be no grades given for any subject, which is a regulation set by
the Department of Education. Teachers will make a comment
on progress in Maths and English, while also providing an
overall general comment.
Reward Day
We had a very successful Reward Day on Friday for all
students who had maintained their good standing through the
first five weeks of Term 2. Activities that students were able to
participate in included Lego Building, Movies, Art and Sport.
388 students maintained their good standing through this
period, which is a school record and something everyone can
be very proud of.
Parents in the school
Thank you to all parents who have worked with the school over
the last five weeks as we had in place strict drop off and pick up
procedures. The WA Government will implement Phase 3 of
their Roadmap to Recovery as of Monday 8 June. As part of
this, regulations have eased around parents entering school
grounds. From Monday parents can now enter the school,
however there will still be no access to classrooms. Despite the
relaxing of these rules, we still encourage parents to be on
school grounds for as short a time as possible and continue
physical distancing. Frequent cleaning is being conducted
throughout the day.
Dental Screening
Screening was set for Friday 19 June for PP, Year 3 and Year 6 students. Dental Staff have had to cancel this and we will be given a new date at a later stage.
Voluntary Contributions
We kindly ask parents/caregivers to make payment of $50 Voluntary Contributions per child as soon as possible. This can be paid at the front office by cash, Eftpos or by direct deposit.
Yours sincerely
