CHRIST(DeemedtobeUniversity)wasbornoutoftheeducationalvisionofSt Kuriakose Elias Chavara, an educationalist and social reformer of thenineteenthcenturyinSouthIndia.Hefoundedthe�irstCatholicindigenouscongregation, Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), in 1831 whichadministersCHRIST(DeemedtobeUniversity).

Establishedin1969asChristCollege,itundertookpath-breakinginitiativesinIndianhighereducationwiththeintroductionofinnovativeandmoderncurricula,insistenceonacademicdiscipline,impartingofHolisticEducationandadoptionofglobalhighereducationpracticeswiththesupportofcreativeand dedicated staff. The University Grants Commission (UGC) of Indiaconferred Autonomy to Christ College in 2004 and identi�ied it as anInstitutionwithPotentialforExcellencein2006.In2008underSection3ofthe UGC Act, 1956, theMinistry of Human Resource Development of theGovernmentofIndia,declaredtheinstitutionaDeemedtobeUniversity,inthename and style of CHRIST (Deemed to be University). One of the �irstinstitutionsinIndiatobeaccreditedin1998bytheNAAC,andsubsequentlyin2004and2016,CHRIST(DeemedtobeUniversity)hasthetopgrade‘A’inthe4-pointscale.

Themulti-disciplinaryUniversitywhich focuses on teaching research andservice offers Bachelors to Doctoral programmes in humanities, socialsciences,science,commerce,management,engineering,education,andlawtoover18000students.Thecampusisalivingexamplefortheharmoniousmulticulturalismwith students fromall the statesof Indiaandaround60differentcountries.CHRIST(DeemedtobeUniversity)publishessixpeer-reviewed research journals and has published more than 300 books inKannadaandEnglish.Apromoterofsports,musicandliteraryactivities,itisanurturinggroundforcreativeexcellence.

Greetings from the Department of Physical Education

CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Intercollegiate/ University Sports Festival “CHRI-

SPO-FEST” is scheduled to be held from 28August 2018 at our University grounds.

Teams intending to participate from various colleges in the below mentioned games

should send their entry with the prescribed entry form along with the registration fee

to the Department of Physical Education (Room No. 204, II Floor, Block I,

CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Main Campus.

The entry fee is Rs. 500/- (Rupees Five Hundred Only) per team per game.

Last date of receiving the entry is 14August 2018(before 04:00PM).

The registration should be done at the department (between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm) as

Cash or DD in favor of CHRIST (Deemed to be University), BENGALURU.
