Illustration of Practice:

As a student leader, Joey is very concerned about the health and safety

of his schoolmates during the COVID-19 pandemic. To help protect them, he created a video that intends to inform them about precautionary measures. In one of his videos, he talked about handwashing. Let's find out what he shared through the illustration below.

Joey delivered a demonstrative speech, focusing on the steps in handwashing.

Below is an example of how a reader can extract essential pieces of

information from it.

Specific Purpose Show how proper handwashing is done

Main Points

1st Step: Wet your hands with clean, running water

2nd Step: Lather your hands by rubbing them together with the soap

3rd Step: Scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds

4th Step: Rinse your hands well under clean, running water after

5th Step: dry your hands using a clean towel or air dry them

Handwashing is an effective way to prevent the

spread of viruses. Here’s are the steps you

should follow in doing it. First, wet your hands

with clean, running water (warm or cold). Turn

off the tap, and apply soap. Then, lather your

hands by rubbing them together with the soap.

Lather the backs of your hands, between your

fingers, and under your nails. Next, scrub your

hands for at least 20 seconds. Need a timer?

You need to wear facemasks during the

COVID-19 pandemic. They help limit the

spread of germs. When someone talks,

coughs, or sneezes they may release tiny

drops into the air that can infect others. If

you are sick, wearing a face mask can

reduce the number of germs that you

release and can protect other people from

becoming sick. A face mask also protects

your nose and mouth from splashes or
