    #his fatwa was issued in 2345 A"- 62755 A8 b/ the Saliheen ,Ulamaa of -aram Shareef

    and the great hol/ places before the Saudi $ahaabi Na9di forced themsel.es into power"

    #he sub9ect that has been gi.en the Islamic Sentence of &ufr are those insolent and

    degrading statements written b/ the eobandi Maul.is who ha.e clearl/ insulted the-ol/ :rophet,s 6sallalahu alaihi wasallam8 dignit/ and character"

    #he following statements ha.e been thoroughl/ in.estigated and issued with the Fatwa of

    the/ captured al;-arama/n 648= and pre.ented Muslims coming from ash;Sham 638 and

    (g/pt from reaching their destination to perform :ilgrimage 6-a998" Another tribulation is

    that of the French who controlled (g/pt from 2423 A"-" until 242@ A"-" Let us herespea1 briefl/ about the two ad.ersities 6C8= because each was mentioned in detail in the

    boo1s of histor/ and in separate treatises"

    .isiting the gra.e of the :rophet= sallallahu ,ala/hi wa sallam= and performing the

    tawassul 6E8 b/ him as shir1 6@8" Additionall/= he falsel/ claimed .isiting the gra.es ofother prophets and righteous Muslims 6awli/a,8 and performing tawassul b/ them was

    shir1 as well" -e added to this b/ sa/ing= H#o call upon the :rophet= sallallahu ,ala/hi wa

    sallam= when performing tawassul b/ the :rophet is shir1"H -e passed the same 9udgmentof shir1 on the ones who call upon other prophets and righteous Muslims 6awli/a,8 in

    performing tawassul b/ them"

    In an effort to gi.e credibilit/ to his inno.ations Ibn ,Abdul;$ahhab embellished his

    sa/ings b/ Duotations which he selected from Islamic sources= i"e"= Duotations which are

    used as proofs for man/ issues but not the issues which Ibn ,Abdul;$ahhab wasattempting to support" -e brought false statements and tried to beautif/ them for the

    la/men until the/ followed him" -e wrote treatises for them until the/ belie.ed that most

    of the :eople of #awhid 68 were blasphemers"

    Alliance $ith #he Su,udi// Famil/Moreo.er= Ibn ,Abdul;$ahhab called upon the princes of eastern Arabia and the people

    of ad;ar,i//ah 6G8 to support him" #he/ carried his doctrine and made this endea.or ameans to strengthen and e?pand their 1ingdom" #he/ wor1ed together to suppress the

    )edouins of the deserts until the/ o.ercame them and those )edouins followed them and

    became foot;soldiers for them without pa/" After that= these masses started to belie.e thatwhoe.er does not belie.e in what Ibn ,Abdul;$ahhab said is a blasphemer= and it is

    Islamicall/ lawful 6halal8 to shed his blood and plunder his mone/"

    #he matter of Ibn ,Abdul;$ahhab started to e.idence itself in 22C3 A"-" and began

    spreading after 22E5 A"-" SubseDuentl/= the scholarsBe.en his brother= Sha/1h Sula/man

    and the rest of his sha/1hsB authored man/ treatises to refute him" )ut Muhammad IbnSu,ud= the :rince of ad;ar,i//ah in eastern Arabia= supported him and wor1ed to spread

    his ideolog/" Ibn Su,ud was from )anu -anifah= the people of Musa/limah al;&adhdhab

    678" $hen Muhammad Ibn Su,ud died= his son ,Abdul;,Aziz Ibn Muhammad Ibn Su,udtoo1 o.er the responsibilit/ of fulfilling the .ile tas1 of spreading the $ahhabi beliefs"

    Man/ of the sha/1hs of Ibn ,Abdul;$ahhab in Medina used to sa/= H-e will bemisguided= and he will misguide those for whom Allah willed the misguidance"H #hings

    too1 place as per the speculation of the scholars" Ibn ,Abdul;$ahhab claimed his

    ta,ala= said in Surat al;AhDaf= A/ah E0

    #his .erse means0 J$ho is more astra/ than the one who performs supplication 6du,a,8 to

    Jworship other than AllahR the one other than Allah he supplicates to will not answer hisdu,a,"

    Allah= ta,ala said in Surat +unus= A/ah 25@ 0

    #his .erse means0 Jo not perform supplication 6du,a,8 to Jworship other than AllahR the

    one other than Allah /ou supplicate to will not benefit /ou and will not harm /ou"

    #he .erses in the >ur,an similar to these ones are numerous" Muhammad Ibn ,Abdul;

    $ahhab gra.el/ misinterpreted the pre.iousl/ cited .erses and said0 H#he Muslim who

    as1s help from the :rophet= sallallahu ,ala/hi wa sallam= other prophets= or the righteous

    people 6salihun8= or who calls or as1s an/ of them for intercession is li1e thoseblasphemers mentioned in the >ur,an"H According to the false claim of Ibn ,Abdul;

    $ahhab= the Muslims who do these things are blasphemers"

    -e also considered .isiting the gra.e of :rophet Muhammad and the gra.es of other

    prophets and righteous Muslims for blessings as blasphem/" Allah re.ealed A/ah 3 ofSurat az;Zumar in reference to the mushri1un0

    #his .erse means0 J#hose who worship the idols said0 H$e do not worship them e?cept to

    achie.e a higher status from Allah"H

    Ibn ,Abdul;$ahhab falsel/ stated0 H#hose who perform tawassul 6as1ing Allah b/ theprophets= for e?ample8 are similar to those blasphemers mentioned in Surat az;Zumar=

    A/ah 3= who claim the/ do not worship the idols e?cept to achie.e a higher status from

    Allah"H -e said0 H#he blasphemers did not belie.e the idols create an/thingR the/belie.ed Allah is the reator"H -e ga.e his .ersion of proof from the >ur,an b/ citing

    Surat LuDman= A/ah 4E and Surat az;Zumar= A/ah 3G= in which Allah said0

    #hese .erses mean0 JIf /ou as1 them= $ho created the hea.ens and earth, #he/ willsa/= Allah,"

    In Surat az;Zu1hruf= A/ah G= Allah said0

    $hich means0 JIf /ou as1 them= $ho created them, #he/ will sa/= Allah," Ibn ,Abdul;

    $ahhab falsel/ concluded from these .erses that the Muslims who perform tawassul aresimilar to those blasphemers"

    In their writings to refute Ibn ,Abdul;$ahhab,s sa/ings= the scholars said his deduction

    was false" #he belie.ers did not consider the prophets or the awli/a, as gods and the/ did

    not deem them partners to Allah" Instead= the/ correctl/ belie.e the prophets and awli/a,are good sla.es and creations of Allah= and the/ do not deser.e to be worshipped"

    If performing tawassul had been blasphem/= then the belie.ers= i"e"= the :rophet=sallallahu ,ala/hi wa sallam= his ompanions= and the Salaf and &halaf of this nation

    would not ha.e done it" +et it is mentioned in the sahih hadith of the :rophet that the

    :rophet used to as1 Allah b/ sa/ing0

    which means0 H% Allah= I as1 +ou b/ the status of those who as1 +ou" 6258 H $ithout

    doubt= this is tawassul" #he :rophet= sallallahu ,ala/hi wa sallam= used to teach this

    supplication 6du,a,8 to his ompanions and order them to sa/ it" #his issue wase?pounded upon in different boo1s and treatises refuting Ibn ,Abdul;$ahhab"

    #here is a hadith related b/ al;-a1im that mentions after Adam ate from the tree= heperformed tawassul b/ our :rophet= sallallahu ,ala/hi wa sallam" -e did that= because he

    saw the name of the :rophet written on the ,Arsh= Adam said0 H% Allah= b/ the dignit/ ofthis son JMuhammad= forgi.e this father JAdam"H

    It was also related b/ Ibn -ibban= that upon the death of Fatimah )int Asad= ma/ Allah

    raise her ran1= the :rophet= sallallahu ,ala/hi wa sallam= with his own honorable hands=

    put her in her gra.e and said0 H% Allah= forgi.e m/ mother 6228= Fatimah )int Asad= and

    widen her place b/ the status of +our :rophet and the prophets who came before me"+ou are the most Merciful"H

    #here is a hadith classified as sahih 6248= that a blind man as1ed the :rophet= sallallahu,ala/hi wa sallam= to ma1e a supplication 6du,a,8 to Allah to return his sight" #he :rophet

    ordered him to ma1e ablution 6wudu,8 and pra/ two ra1,ahs and then sa/0

    H% Allah= I as1 +ou and direct m/self to +ou b/ +our :rophet= Muhammad= the :rophet

    of Merc/" % Muhammad= I as1 Allah b/ /ou to fulfill m/ need" % Allah= enable him tointercede for me"H

    #he blind man did what the :rophet taught him to do 6238 and Allah brought his sightbac1" Moreo.er= as related b/ at;#abarani//= the tawassul made b/ the blind man was

    used b/ the ompanions and Salaf after the death of the :rophet"

    ,Umar Ibn al;&hattab performed the tawassul b/ al;,Abbas 6the uncle of the :rophet8=

    ma/ Allah reward their deeds= when he pra/ed the Salah of ,IstisDa, 62C8 with the people"

    #here are other proofs mentioned in the boo1s of the Islamic scholars but we will not

    recount them at length here"

    #he one who pursues the sa/ing of the ompanions and their followers will find a great

    deal of proof about the .alidit/ of calling the prophet b/ sa/ing H% MuhammadH in his

    presence as well as in his absence and in his life as well as after his death" In fact= man/te?ts include the phrase which means= H% MuhammadH" alling the name of the :rophet=

    sallallahu ,ala/hi wa sallam= is permissible" An e?ample is the sa/ing of the ompanion=

    )ilal Ibn al;-arith= ma/ Allah reward his deeds= when he went to the gra.e of the:rophet" -e said0 H% Messenger of Allah= as1 Allah to send rain to /our Nation"H -is

    sa/ing contains this format 62E8"

    Sha/1h Muhammad Ibn Sula/man al;&urdi// 62@8 was among the authors who wrote

    refuting Ibn ,Abdul;$ahhab" -e was Ibn ,Abdul;$ahhab,s own sha/1h" Among what he

    said is as follows0

    % Ibn ,Abdul;$ahhab= I ad.ise /ou= for the sa1e of Allah= ta,ala= to hold /our tongue

    regarding the Muslims" If /ou hear from an/one who as1s for help from other than Allahthat one has the power to effect things without the $ill of Allah= then teach him the right

    thing about this issue= and show him the proofs which state no one other than Allah

    brings things from non;e?istence into e?istence" #he one who re9ects that is blasphemous"+ou ha.e no right to label the ma9orit/ of the Muslims as blasphemers 628 while /ou are

    de.iant from the ma9orit/ of the Muslims" In fact= it is more reasonable to consider the

    one who de.iates from the ma9orit/ of the Muslims as a blasphemer then to consider the

    Muslims as a nation as blasphemersBbecause the de.iant one has followed a path otherthan the path of the belie.ers" In Surat an;Nisa,= A/ah 2E= Allah said0

    #his a/ah means0 J$home.er contends with the Messenger after the right path wase?posed to him and follows other than the wa/ of the belie.ers= Allah will lea.e him to

    whate.er he followed and put him in -ell 6ahannam8"

    which means0 HIf the animal of an/one of /ou went out of control in the wilderness= then

    call0 % sla.es of Allah= help me,H= since there are sla.es of Allah Ji"e" the angels who

    will respond to him"

    #here is another hadith related b/ al;)azzar in which the :rophet said0

    which means0 H If one of /ou lost something or needs help while in an open land= then let

    him sa/0 H% sla.es of Allah= help me"HH Another narration sa/s0

    which means H'escue me= because Allah has created sla.es whom /ou do not see"H

    $hen tra.eling at nightfall the :rophet= sallallahu ,al/hi wa sallam= used to sa/0

    which means0 H % earth= m/ Lord and /our Lord is Allah"H

    $hen the :rophet .isited the gra.e of Muslims= he used to sa/0

    which means0 H % people of the gra.es= peace be upon /ou"H

    In the #ashahhud in as;Salah the Muslim sa/s0

    which means0 H H% :rophet of Allah= ma/ Allah protect /ou from infirmities= and ha.e

    merc/ and blessings on /ou"HH

    #here is no harm in calling on and performing tawassul b/ someone unless one belie.es

    that someone other than Allah actuall/ creates things" -ence= as long as one belie.es thatonl/ Allah creates them= there is no harm in performing tawassul" Li1ewise= attributing a

    certain doing to other than Allah does not harm unless one belie.es this doer actuall/

    creates" So once it is established the person does not belie.e the creating is for other thanAllah then attributing a doing to other than Allah is understood in its proper conte?t"

    $hen one sa/s0 H#his medicine benefited me=H or H#his particular righteous Muslim

    benefited me=H he is merel/ e?posing the created reason of the benefit" #hese statements

    are also similar to when one sa/s0 H#his food satisfied m/ hunger=H or H#his waterDuenched m/ thirst=H or H#his medicine cured me"H $hen Muslims sa/ such statements=

    the/ understand them in their proper conte?t= i"e"= food= water= and medicine are onl/

    reasons= and Allah is the reator of their benefit"

    #he general proofs mentioned in this summar/ are enough to refute Ibn ,Abdul;$ahhab"

    #he scholars of Islam ha.e e?pounded on this issue in se.eral treatises"

    At the time Ibn ,Abdul;$ahhab and his assistants initiated their treacherous ideolog/ b/

    which the/ called the Muslims blasphemers= the/ were gaining control of eastern Arabia

    one tribe after another" #his e?pansion e.entuall/ encompassed al;+aman= Ma11ah= al;Madinah= and the tribes of al;-i9az all the wa/ to ash;Sham"

    ebating $ith #he Scholars %f Ma11ah

    Initiall/= the $ahhabis sent a group to Ma11ah and al;Madinah thin1ing the/ would beable to spoil the belief of the scholars of these two hol/ cities and tamper with their belief

    through lies and fabrications" $hen the/ reached there and declared their beliefs= the

    scholars of Ma11ah and al;Madinah refuted them and established the Islamic e.idencesagainst themBwhich the/ could not refute" #he scholars were certain about the $ahhabisT

    ignorance and misguidance and found them absurd and thoughtless"

    After e.aluating their beliefs and finding them full of man/ t/pes of blasphem/= the

    $ahhabis fled li1e frightened zebras fleeing from a lion" -ence= after establishing the

    proofs= the scholars wrote an attestation against the $ahhabi//ah to the -ead udge of

    Ma11ah confirming the $ahhabis as blasphemous because of their beliefs" #he aim ofthe scholars was to disclose the misguidance of the $ahhabis and ma1e it 1nown to the

    costl/ pa/ment was one of man/ times such things occurred" Another time= one transport

    in particular was made for ammunition carried from +anbu, to al;Madinah" (ach camel

    cost si? ri/als= half of which was paid b/ the go.ernor of +anbu, and the other half b/ thego.ernor of al;Madinah" Upon the arri.al of the shipment from al;Madinah to ad;
