SPECIAL INSPECTION REPORTING SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 1704.2.4OF THE 2018 IBC.

    F. ALL DISCREPANCIES NOTED DURING INSPECTIONS SHALL BE BROUGHT TO THE IMMEDIATEATTENTION OF THE CONTRACTOR. IF LEFT UNCORRECTED, THESE DISCREPANCIES SHALL BEBROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF THE APPROPRIATE DESIGN PROFESSIONALS AND/ORBUILDING OFFICIAL.     5. CONTRACTOR SHALL FIELD VERIFY ALL EXISTING DIMENSIONS PRIOR TO FABRICATION.

    6. REFERENCE THE SPECIFICATIONS FOR ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS.

    3. APPLY ROMAN PRO 935 R-35 ADHESION PROMOTING PRIMER (AVAILABLE AT ALL BIG-BOXRETAILERS) WITH A ROLLER OVER THE MARMOLEUM. ALLOW THE SURFACE TO DRYOVERNIGHT.

    4. RECOMMENDED WALL LINING MATERIAL IS KOROLINER, AVAILABLE THROUGH WOLF-GORDON.

    5. PASTE ONLY ONE STRIP OF LINER AT A TIME. ACCOMPLISH THIS BY BRUSHING ORROLLING A QUALITY PRE-MIXED ADHESIVE THOROUGHLY OVER THE BACK OF THE LINERSTRIP (ROMAN PRO 555 EXTREME TACK ADHESIVE IS RECOMMENDED). MAKE SURE ALLEDGES ARE COVERED. DO NOT CREASE THE MATERIAL.

    6. ALIGN THE FIRST STRIP TO A PLUMB LINE. SMOOTH AND OVERLAP FROM THE TOP OFBOTTOM OF THE STRIP. SMOOTH THE STRIP TO THE WALL WITH A SOFT BRUSH,REMOVING ALL AIR POCKETS IN THE PROCESS. BUTT OR DOUBLE CUT ALL SEAM, BUT DONOT OVERLAP THE LINER MATERIAL - OVERLAPS LEAVE VISIBLE IMPERFECTIONS ON THEOTHERWISE SMOOTH WALL SURFACE.

    7. SET SEAMS WITH A SEAM ROLLER TO PREVENT THEM FROM OPENING OR CURLINGAWAY FROM THE WALL WHILE DRYING. DO NOT USE EXCESSIVE PRESSURE WHENROLLING SEAMS, AS IT COULD SQUEEZE OUT TOO MUCH OF THE PASTE WHICH COULDALSO CAUSE THE SEAM TO OPEN UP WHEN DRY.

    8. USE SCISSORS OR A SINGLE-EDGE RAZOR BLADE TO TRIM EXCESS MATERIAL AT THETOP, BASE, AND AROUND WINDOWS AND DOORFRAMES.

    APPLICATION OVER EXISTING SUBSTRATE (USE IF MARMOLEUM IS NOT PRESENT)

    1. RAMPART WALL COVERING TO BE INSTALLED PER MANUFACTURERRECOMMENDATIONS.

    2. GLOSSY SURFACES SHOULD BE SANDED, AND MILDEW SHOULD BE CLEANED FROM THESURFACE WITH A SOLUTION OF TWO CUPS HOUSEHOLD BLEACH PER GALLON OFWATER. UNLESS FIRMLY BONDED TO THE WALL, OLD WALLCOVERING SHOULD BESCRAPED AND REMOVED. NICKS, GOUGES, AND OTHER SURFACE BLEMISHES MUST BEFILLED AND SANDED SMOOTH. FOLLOW WITH A PIGMENTED, ADHESION-PROMOTINGPRIMER.

    3. WITH ALL SURFACES-ONCE PROPERLY PREPARED-APPLY A GOOD QUALITY ACRYLIC ORLATEX WALLCOVERING PRIMER/SEALER. IF AN OIL-BASED PRIMER WAS USED, APPLY ANACRYLIC OR LATEX PRIMER OVER IT BEFORE HANGING, TO AVOID TRAPPING MOISTUREOR ADHESION PROBLEMS. IF THE SURFACE DOES NOT HAVE A UNIFORM COLOR, USE APIGMENTED PRIMER.

    4. RAMPART WALL PROTECTION ROLLS ARE NUMBERED CONSECUTIVELY AND SHOULD BECUT AND INSTALLED IN REVERSE SEQUENCE, STARTING WITH THE HIGHEST NUMBEREDROLL. CUT THE MATERIAL INTO FULL WIDTH STRIPS AS THEY WILL BE HUNG,AND LAYTHEM FLAT ON THE FLOOR IN A HEATED ROOM THE DAY BEFORE INSTALLATION TOREMOVE ANY FLAT SPOTS THAT MAY HAVE OCCURRED WITH STORING. ONCE YOU HAVE INDEXED THE LAMINATE,REMOVE 1≈-2≈ OF THE PEEL SHEET ON ONE END AND LIGHTLY TACK IT IN PLACE. BEGIN REMOVINGTHE PEEL SHEET, MAKING SURE THE OPPOSITE END IS STILL PROPERLY ALIGNED. WORK YOUR WAYDOWN THE ENTIRE LENGTH OF THE LAMINATE SHEET UNTIL THE PEEL SHEET IS COMPLETELYREMOVED AND THE RE-COVER LAMINATE IS FLAT ON THE SURFACE. APPLY UNIFORM BONDINGPRESSURE (30-40 PSI MINIMUM) OVER THE ENTIRE BONDED SURFACE USING A MECHANICAL PINCHROLLER (RECOMMENDED) OR A 3 ≈ WIDE J-ROLLER. DO NOT USE A WOODEN BLOCK OR OTHER HANDROLLER.

    8. RE-COVER LAMINATE IS NOT REPOSITIONABLE. ANY ATTEMPTS TO REPOSITION THE LAMINATE WILLRESULT IN INADEQUATE BONDING. IF THE RE-COVER LAMINATE HAS BEEN POSITIONEDINCORRECTLY, REMOVE USING A HEAT GUN TO SOFTEN THE ADHESIVE, AND THEN PULL THELAMINATE AWAY FROM THE SUBSTRATE. ONCE A SHEET IS REMOVED, IT CANNOT BE REAPPLIED.REPLACE IT WITH A NEW SHEET OF RE-COVER LAMINATE.

    9. ONCE BONDED, YOU CAN BEGIN MACHINING THE RE-COVER ASSEMBLY IMMEDIATELY. HIGH TOOLSPEED AND LOW FEED SPEED ARE RECOMMENDED FOR BEST RESULTS. PRIOR TO ROUTINGEDGES, A RAZOR MAY BE USED TO SCORE THE ADHESIVE SIDE OF THE LAMINATE TO PREVENT THEADHESIVE LAYER FROM ROLLING UP DURING THE PROCESS.

    2. OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE MANUALS:

    A. DURING THE COURSE OF CONSTRUCTION, COLLECT AND COMPILE OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS, WIRING DIAGRAMS, CATALOG CUTS, LUBRICATION AND PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS, PARTS LISTS, ETC. FOR ALL EQUIPMENT FURNISHED UNDER THIS CONTRACT.

    B. ALL LITERATURE AND INSTRUCTIONS SHIPPED WITH THE EQUIPMENT SHALL BE SAVED FOR INCLUSION IN THE OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE MANUALS.

    C. ALL LITERATURE LISTED ABOVE AND ALL PAPERS LISTING WARRANTIES, ETC. SHALL BE BOUND IN A 3-RING BINDER AND LABELED WITH THE PROJECT NAME, ADDRESS, ARCHITECT, ENGINEER, CONTRACTORS, ETC.

    3. MANUFACTURERS:

    A. MANUFACTURERS, MODEL NUMBERS, ETC. INDICATED OR SCHEDULED ON THE DRAWINGS SHALL BE INTERPRETED AS HAVING ESTABLISHED A STANDARD OF QUALITY AND SHALL NOT BE CONSTRUED AS LIMITING COMPETITION. ARTICLES, FIXTURES, ETC. OF EQUAL QUALITY BY MANUFACTURERS SHALL BE ACCEPTABLE, SUBJECT TO STRUCTURAL AND ELECTRICAL CONSTRAINTS OF THE PROJECT DESIGN, UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE.

    4. TESTING, BALANCING, AND CLEANING:

    A. ALL PIPING SHALL BE TESTED FOR LEAKS BEFORE BEING CONCEALED IN WALL CONSTRUCTION OR COVERED WITH INSULATION.

    B. SEWER AND VENT PIPING SHALL BE HYDROSTATICALLY TESTED WITH NO LESS THAN 10 FEET OF HEAD FOR A PERIOD OF NOT LESS THAN 15 MINUTES, PER THE LOCAL PLUMBING CODE, WITH NO LEAKS.

    C. DOMESTIC WATER PIPING SHALL BE HYDROSTATICALLY TESTED AT A PRESSURE OF NOT LESS THAN 1-1/2 TIMES THE OPERATING PRESSURE, BUT NOT LESS THAN 60 PSI, FOR A PERIOD OF NOT LESS THAN 2 HOURS, WITH NO LEAKS.

    D. NATURAL GAS PIPING SHALL BE PNEUMATICALLY TESTED AT A PRESSURE OF NOT LESS THAN 1-1/2 TIMES THE OPERATING PRESSURE, BUT NOT LESS THAN 50 PSI, FOR A PERIOD OF NOT LESS THAN 2 HOURS, WITH NO LEAKS.

    1) BALANCING SHALL INCLUDE THE BALANCING OF THE EQUIPMENT AND AIR DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS TO PROVIDE DESIGN QUANTITIES INDICATED AND VERIFICATION OF PERFORMANCE OF ALL EQUIPMENT AND AUTOMATIC CONTROLS.

    2) WITH IN 30 DAYS OF THE COMPLETION OF THE TESTING AND BALANCING WORK, SUBMIT THE TEST AND BALANCING REPORT BEARING THE SIGNATURE OF THE TEST AND BALANCE ENGINEER. THE REPORTS SHALL BE CERTIFIED PROOF THAT THE SYSTEMS HAVE BEEN TESTED, ADJUSTED, AND BALANCED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE REFERENCED STANDARDS; ARE AN ACCURATE REPRESENTATION OF HOW THE SYSTEMS HAVE BEEN INSTALLED AND ARE OPERATING. REPORTS SHALL BE BOUND IN A VINYL BINDER AND THE BINDER LABELED OR MAY BE AN ELECTRONIC PDF SUBMITTAL.

    F. BEFORE DOMESTIC WATER PIPING IS PLACED IN SERVICE, ALL DOMESTIC WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS, INCLUDING THOSE FOR COLD WATER AND HOT WATER SYSTEMS, SHALL BE FLUSHED, STERILIZED AND CHLORINATED IN ACCORDANCE WITH HEALTH DEPARTMENT REGULATIONS. THE SYSTEMS SHALL BE THOROUGHLY FLUSHED OF ALL DIRT AND FOREIGN MATTER, THEN FILLED WITH WATER TREATED WITH 50 PPM OF CHLORINE. DURING THE FILLING PROCESS, VALVES AND FAUCETS SHALL BE OPENED SEVERAL TIMES TO ASSURE TREATMENT OF THE ENTIRE SYSTEM. THE TREATED WATER SHALL BE LEFT IN THE SYSTEM FOR 24 HOURS AFTER WHICH TIME THE SYSTEM SHALL BE FLUSHED; IF THE RESIDUAL CHLORINE IS NOT LESS THAN 10 PPM, THE FLUSHING SHALL BE REPEATED. AFTER STERILIZATION, SAMPLES OF WATER IN THE SYSTEM SHALL BE APPROVED BY THE BOARD OF HEALTH.

ANY ITEMS WHICH BECOME DAMAGED BEYOND REPAIR AS A RESULT OF CONSTRUCTION OR DEMOLITION ACTIVITY SHALL BE REPLACED WITH NEW MATERIAL EQUIVALENT IN EVERY RESPECT.

    C. DISPOSAL AND CLEANUP: REMOVE FROM THE SITE AND LEGALLY DISPOSE OF DEMOLISHED MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT NOT INDICATED TO BE SALVAGED.

    D. PROTECT ADJACENT MATERIALS INDICATED TO REMAIN. INSTALL AND MAINTAIN DUST AND NOISE BARRIERS TO KEEP DIRT, DUST, AND NOISE FROM BEING TRANSMITTED TO ADJACENT AREAS. REMOVE PROTECTION AND BARRIERS AFTER REMODELING OPERATIONS ARE COMPLETE.

    E. LOCATE, IDENTIFY, AND PROTECT MECHANICAL SERVICES PASSING THROUGH REMODELING AREA AND SERVING OTHER AREAS OUTSIDE THE REMODELING LIMITS. MAINTAIN SERVICES TO AREAS OUTSIDE REMODELING LIMITS.     G. PIPING AND DUCTS EMBEDDED IN FLOORS, WALLS, AND CEILINGS MAY REMAIN IF SUCH MATERIALS DO NOT INTERFERE WITH NEW INSTALLATIONS. PIPING AND DUCTS TO REMAIN SHALL BE APPROVED BY THE ARCHITECT. REMOVE MATERIALS ABOVE ACCESSIBLE CEILINGS. DRAIN AND CAP PIPING AND DUCTS ALLOWED TO REMAIN ABOVE CEILING OR BELOW FLOOR, CONCEALED FROM VIEW, EXCEPT AS OTHERWISE NOTED.
