AD SummationsoftwareitselfdoesnotaccommodatearealtimefeedeitheroveranetworkorovertheInternet.

COMPATIBILITY:

AD SummationRealtimehasbeensuccessfullytestedwithallmajorCATsystemsandcanreceiveatextfeed in either CaseView or ASCII format.

EQUIPMENT:

BelowisalistofsuccessfullytestedUSB-to-serialconverters.Thisisnotintendedtobeacompletelist.Otherconvertersmayfunctionandallowuserstoeffectivelyconnecttoarealtimefeed.

1. Thecourtreporterconnectshis/herrealtimecomputer,usingarealtimehookupcableorStenocast

wirelessdevice,totheattorneyscomputer.

2. LaunchAD SummationandclicktheRealtime button.3. The File Name for Realtime Transcript windowwillappear.IntheDescription field,

users may include a description of the file and clickOK . The Coding Palette screenwillalsoappear.YoucangrabitstitlebartomoveitofftothesidewhileyoucompletetheRealtimeconnectionprocess.

4. The Get Connected! screen appears. ClickNext to continue.

5. On the Setup Options screen, select the first option, I want to connect locally to theCourt Reporters Realtime Computer . ClickNext to continue.6. The Connect locally screenappears.SelectaCOMportbyeitherclickingtheappropriate

7. VERY IMPORTANT: Next click the Court Reporter Settings button. Note: InAD SummationEnterprise,thisbuttoniscalledRealtime Settings .

The Properties window appears. Note: InAD SummationEnterprise,theRealtime Settings window opens.8. Clickthefollowingtabstocheckconformitywiththerespectivecourtreporterssettings.

A. Under theSource tab, the user can specify the number of lines per transcript page and alsoselect the desired time code settings.

B. Under the Steno Feed tab,theusercanselecttheappropriateStenoFeedFormat:CaseView or Ascii .ItisrecommendedthattheCaseView setting be used.If the Ascii setting is selected, the Line Terminator drop-downmenubecomesactive,allowingtheusertoadjustthesettingstoensuresuccessivelinesoftextwrapbacktotheleftmargin.

C. Under the Serial Port Settings ,selecttheappropriatebaudratetomatchthatoftheCATsystem.Itisrecommendedthatthe2400-baudratesettingbeused.

9. ClickOK . Note: Any time a change is made to any of the Realtime settings, users will need to close and

restartRealtimeforthechangestotakeeffect.

10. ClickNext on the Connect locally screen.Note: InEnterprise,youwillseeanadditionalwindowthatconfirmsyoursettings.ClickNext again.

11. TheRealtimewindowappears.

12. Havethecourtreporterwriteatestfeedonyourstenomachine.Ifthesettingsarecorrect,therealtimefeedwillappearbehindthewizard.SampletextwillberemovedwhentheFinishbuttonisclicked.

13. Ifarealtimeconnectionisnotmade,theNo feed detected screenwillappear.ClicktheBack button to return to the Connect locally screen.SelectanotherCOMportorclicktheCourtReporter Settings button to adjust the realtime settings.

Note: IfanychangesaremadetothesettingswithintheProperties window(Step7above),closetheRealtimeWizardcompletelyandrestartRealtimetobeginanewrealtimesession.OnceRealtimehasbeenrestarted,beginwithStep2ofthisprocess.

DisconnectingandReconnectingtoADSummation

RealtimeLEAVINGTHEATTORNEYSCOMPUTERON:

ToDisconnect:1. Click the Disconnect button on the toolbar.

Theattorneymaynowdisconnecttherealtimecableandtakethecomputertoanotherlocationtoreviewtestimony.

ToReconnect:

2. TheattorneycanlaterreconnecttherealtimecableandclickConnect on the toolbar:3. Awindowwilldisplay,askingifyouwanttostartanewrealtimesession.

A. TocontinuewiththepreviousRealtimesession,clickNo andthecurrenttranscriptsRealtimefeed will continue.

B. TostartanewRealtimesession,clickYes .Thecurrenttranscriptwillbesavedandclosed,anduserswillbepromptedtonamethenewsession.

TURNINGOFFTHEATTORNEYSCOMPUTER:

1. ToexitAD Summation,clickDisconnect onthetoolbar.ExitAD Summation,turnoffthecomputer and disconnect the realtime cable.

2. Toresumeasession,reconnecttherealtimecable,restartthecomputer,openAD Summation,open the desired case and click the Realtime buttononthetoolbar.Awindowwillappear,askingiftheuserwantstoresumetheprevioussessionorstartanewsession.

3. ClickResume Evening Session tocontinuewiththepreviousRealtimetranscript.ClickStart New Realtime Session tocreateanewRealtimetranscript.IftheStart NewRealtime Session is selected,userswillbepromptedtonamethenewsession.

UpdatingaADSummationRealtimeDraftTranscript

1. OpenAD Summationtothedesiredcase.

2. Dragthenewestversionofthetranscriptfilefromthenavigationwindowtothe[Draft of] transcriptthatyouwishtoupdateintheTranscriptsfolderintheCaseExplorer.

3. By default, Update Existing Transcript (for example, a realtime draft) is selected. ClickUpdate Transcript . The Transcript Update dialog box appears:4. ItishighlyrecommendedthatusersselecttheKeep Draft option to create and save a backup

copyofthedrafttranscriptincaseanyproblemsariseduringtheupdateprocessorifdiscrepanciesappear in the final transcript. When selecting Keep Draft , options in the Rename PreviousVersion to: sectionareavailable.Userswillbepromptedtochangethenameofthesaveddraft,incaseitisneededinthefuture.

5. ClickUpdate to load the transcript.6. The Update Transcript windowisdisplayed.ClickOK when the load is complete.7. Click

Close on the Transcript Update dialog box. The transcript will be updated and addedto AD Summations index.
