Introduction

JDA Demand - JDA Enterprise Planning Integration Guide 1 © 2010-2013 JDA Software Group, Inc.- Confidential

Chapter 1. Introduction

This document contains instructions for configuring the integration between JDA Demand and JDA Enterprise Planning.

You must install both the applications before integrating them. For assistance in using the applications,

select Help in Demand or Enterprise Planning.

This integration is dependent on the ability of the Enterprise Planning application to write to and read from tables within the Demand database. For this to work properly, Enterprise Planning must have properties configured to allow it to access the Demand database.

Terminology

Demand Units (Dmdunit): A product or item.

Location (Loc): Geographical region, warehouse, DC, or store.

Demand Forecasting Unit (DFU): An entity for which a forecast is created. The combination of a product, channel (demand group), location, and model (algorithm and history data).

Forecast (DFUTOEPFCST): A prediction of values at certain specific future times. JDA Demand

creates forecast for DFUs and consolidates them into the staging table (DFUTOEPFCST).

Product Member: An occurrence within the product business entity hierarchy. A product or item.

Organization Member: An occurrence within the organization business entity hierarchy. An organization or store.

Calendar Member: An occurrence within the calendar business entity hierarchy. A year, season,

quarter, period, week or day.

Dimension: One of the entities combined with other entities to make up a component of a plan.

For example, product & organization & calendar & measure are dimensions that combine to make up "Consolidated Demand Forecast Units by Store/SKU/Week".

The Dimensions are defined as:

Measure = Consolidated Demand Forecast Units

Organization = Store

Product = SKU

Calendar = Week

Fact Table Family: Data category defined in EKB facts. For example, "Demand Forecast" is a category of data in EKB facts. The "Demand Forecast" has dimensions and input sources for those dimensions.

Input Source: An inbound staging table used in EP to load facts based on the dimension definitions within a fact table family.

Assumptions

Calendar

Start dates for forecast correspond to calendar members start dates.

Product

Demand units and product members are loaded and maintained from the same source.

Organization

Page 6: demand_ep_integration.pdf

Introduction

JDA Demand - JDA Enterprise Planning Integration Guide 2 © 2010-2013 JDA Software Group, Inc.- Confidential

Locations and organization members are loaded and maintained from the same source.

Forecast

Demand forecast is created for members within an EP hierarchy level.

Demand forecast corresponds to the measure and the EP dimension load level defined for the Forecast Fact Table Family.

All forecast types are merged into a single forecast and placed in an outbound staging table (DFUTOEPFCST) by Demand.

EP Hierarchy

The EP data set is based on the extended Install Validation Kit (IVK) delivered with the installation.

EP Calendar and Demand Cal/CalData

The calendar used for demand forecasting matches the calendar dimension load level for the EP measure.

EP Product and Demand Unit

The data is built from the same source. The EP product ID is used as the demand unit. User-defined fields of UDC_COLOR, UDC_SIZE, and UDC_EP_PLANNING_ID are set up on the demand unit to hold additional information.

EP Organization and Demand Loc

The data is built from the same source. The locations correspond to EP organization IDs.

Demand DFU

The DFU is made up of the EP Product, EP Organization, a demand group and a model.

History

The history loaded in EP is the same history loaded in Demand.

Integration Overview

Transfer Forecast Process in Demand (DFUTOEPFCST)

The Enterprise Planning option in the Transfer Forecast process should be selected to populate the forecast data available in the FCST table to the DFUTOEPFCST table. The total forecast is transferred.

Forecast in EP

The EP Server Administration Workbench is used to set up the dimensions, input sources, and measures for the FC_DEMAND fact table family.

DFUTOEPFCST to FC_Demand Input Staging

A custom interface is built to move data from DFUTOEPFCST to the input source for FC_DEMAND. The

custom interface uses the ‘STARTDATE’ from the Demand output to retrieve the correct ‘CALENDAR_NAME’ for Week in EP.
