It was a tough quarter to say theleast. Most of our members are in majors

that require intense math and sciencecourses, such as Math 152 or Chemistry 122,which are some of the most failed classes atThe Ohio State University, Our membersdedicated their quarters to hitting the books.

You can bet that everyone in thehouse was ready and willing to help thosestruggling in their respective classes. Its avery common thing to see multiple DTSmembers sitting in a room with laptops opendoing math homework. The amount of carethat these members have not only for eachother, but for the house overall isoutstanding. Only because of their dedication

and knowledge were the younger membersable to pull through in their classes. In addition, it wasnt uncommon to see members in their roomstudying on Friday or Saturday nights when all of our other Greek colleagues were out partying.

DTS ended up with a 3.33 GPA for Spring 2010, as compared to all Greek organizations (3.22),all IFC governed fraternities (3.11) or all male undergraduate students (3.05). In regards to otheragricultural fraternities, we were well above the mean. Our closest competitor was 12th ranked AlphaTau Zeta (3.11), and far behind were 21st Alpha Gamma Rho (2.95) and 30th Alpha Gamma Sigma(2.58). Congratulations to the men of Delta Theta Sigma for all their hard work and dedication. Keep upthe good work boys!

Public Relations has been a primary concern for the house lately. Not because anything has been

done wrong and were worrying about our image, but much to the contrary. DTS has progressed immenselyover the past few years, and we have been looking to share this success with the Greek community andplaying a more active role in Greek life at Ohio State. Being a small fish in a huge pond hasnt really helped;with 32 total fraternities at OSU and more than 7,000 Greek students on campus, its difficult to berecognized as anything but one in the same.

However, we have made great strides in becoming more well known. First, as mentioned in theprevious article, is GPA. By maintaining top GPAs, other Greeks as well as potential rushes will notice us.Furthermore, thanks to the hard work of members such as Austin Kirk, Mac Kelley, and Jordan Schaeffer, wehave been able to meet different Greeks (especially sorority girls) that have been instrumental in helping toget our philanthropies, community service projects, and social events off the ground. In addition, werebeginning to draw a larger number of rushes as they see our involvement on campus. Look for plenty of growth in the future as well as seeing Delta Theta Sigma as a prominent fraternity on campus.

Summer is here and gone andas summer leaves, schoolbegins again for students at TheOhio State University. Here atDTS, we have geared up foranother exciting fall quarter inColumbus. We accomplishedmany things last year and wantto continue to improve andgrow as a fraternity.

Over the summer,we completed two work daysthat bettered the house. Werepainted the front porch andare working on making newletters for the front as well.We also began planning for the

30 active members. We look forward to having a largewinter class. There are 33

people living in the house thisyear that include 8 boarderswho are not currentlymembers. The scholarshipprogram has brought us 6 of those 8 individuals.

Our social calendarhas been very busy this fall.Activities ranging from footballgames, parties, and watchingthe Buckeyes keep us verybusy. With Homecoming andConclave fast approaching, wewill have a lot more to do. Weare planning to send 10members to Conclave this yearin Madison, Wisconsin.

We were able to accomplish a lot this summer. We brought all of our members down atsome point over the summer to work on the house. After countless hours of toiling out in the hotsummer sun, we accomplished a few key things. First, we painted the pillars on the front porch. There is certainly a difference from how they looked before. Secondly, We replaced the wood framearound the porch. The wood was old and rotting, so we acquired a good bit of wood, cut themappropriately, painted them with a fresh coat of white paint, and properly installed them. The outsidenow looks fantastic.

We are also in the process of creating new Greek letters to hang on the house. The oldones were small and ineffective. As our presence grows on campus, the appearance of our houseshould as well. The letters should be up sometime this quarter. In addition, we allocated some fundsfrom Farm Science Review as well as money we acquired from parking the lot on Saturdays forfootball games to a new sound system for the front porch. It was a necessary measure as the risk of iPods, speakers, or radios being stolen was becoming all too realistic. This is an all weather, safe andsecure system.

In addition, weve renovated our first floor bathrooms. They were in a terrible state thatled to water leaking into the basement. They are now functional, which has certainly been a plus forall Delta Theta Sigma members.

    Delta Theta SigmaAgricultural Fraternity

Alpha Chapter atThe Ohio State University

There are plenty of things to look forward to for the future of Delta Theta Sigma. First isGPA. We are really striving for first, and as of now, only Sigma Phi Epsilon and Alpha Epsilon Pi standin our way. We will continue to hit the books hard because We Really Want This . That being said, our members will have to continue to work hard to see results.

Secondly, look forward to seeing Delta Theta Sigma involved more not only in the Greek community, but also in the Ohio State community in general. This means more respect and requestsfor involvement in philanthropies and social events from other fraternities and sororities. In a morespecific sense, it means more rushes for the house; and not just numbers, but good, quality members. With the rush team that we have put together, we have been very apt at contacting not justagricultural students (though it is obviously our most important base), but hard working and dedicatednon-agricultural members. We will always have our agricultural foundation, but if we can find one ortwo non agricultural members a year that are enthusiastic and energetic about the house, then it can

only benefit us. This is very important because at the end of this year we will be losing almost half of our members to graduation, and we need guys willing to fill the big shoes left behind. In conclusion, we have set ourselves on a path that cannot be undone. We are on the path

to victory. Thanks especially to both Former President Nick Atterholt, and Current President JedBookman for laying the foundations of continued excellence through the house. They have establisheda mindset of perfection that the newer members have followed flawlessly. We shall continue to followtheir examples and push forward in order to become one of the best fraternities here at THE OhioState University.

We, the members of Delta Theta Sigma Fraternity, in order to promote agriculture, to secure ahigher degree of scholarship, to foster the spirit of brotherhood in our vocation and to insure

social and cultural unity, do promote our organization to the fulfillment of these ideals.
