Seems that we find ourselves with very little spare time these days, yet as REALTORS® we accomplish much as volunteers, and we tend to forget the immense value of our combined REALTOR® efforts as we raise scholarship funds for our high school studentsand food for those in need in Eastern Contra Costa County.
Case in Point: The Delta Harvest Run (DHR), put on by Delta’s Community Service Foundation on Sunday, September 21, 2014. The Run has done wonders for our local food banks and local high school students. Just think, the Run has helped our Foundation to grant over $50,000 in scholarships to our graduating seniors just in the last ten years.
The Delta Harvest Run involves huge amount of work by everyone involved. Our DAR staff, the foundation board of directors, and the group of DHR volunteers, many of which are not Realtors or Affiliates have come together to make this event a success. And here is the best part. All of Delta’s Realtors are recognized in the most positive way possible.
Want to help? Race Director and Realtor Wendy Shearer has a way:
She writes, “Here is what one of our members has done to promote the DHR and her business too. I provided her artwork for our run so that she could create a marketing piece that would appeal to runners in her farm
area. What a great idea!
Over the weekend a group of us passed out flyers with a special discount promotional code during the Brentwood Art & Wine Festival. Registering for the run over the Labor Day weekend entitled one to a 10% discount. Our registrations went up as a result!!
I would like to offer each of our REALTOR® and Affiliate members their own unique promotion code they can use with their clients. We can also provide the REALTOR® and Affiliate a list of registratns who used their code so they can follow up and thank them.”
Call Wendy (925) 303-2665 or (925) 595-0292 for your own Delta Harvest Run Promo Code today.

REALTORS® didn’t get the use of cellular phones until the early 80’s when the car phone became popular. However, pay phones were everywhere, in telephone booths and in hotel lobbies.
There weren’t Fax machines until the late 70’s.This meant that listing agreements, purchase contracts and other documents had to be hand delivered or mailed to the parties involved.
Telegrams were often used by remote sellers and buyers whose signatures were needed right away.
Title Companies and other companies
instituted courier services that made daily rounds to pick up and deliver documents between offices.
Remember BATS?Listings were not online because there was no Internet, no email, or computer screens. Delta’s “advanced” MLS system consisted of listings printed six to a legal size sheet of paper and picked up once per week at the Board Office.
With scissors in hand we cut the listings out and put them in flip charts and other two hole devices for easy reference.
A few MLS memories From John Bedford
What was in the Realtor Tool Box back in 1976?
