MillingOur milling department includes acomplete line of CNC millingmachines, a number of vertical millingcenters with true fourth axis capabili-ty, a horizontal mill with fifth axiscapability and manual millingmachines for those special circum-stances. Product sizes range from 20inches to 50 inches and we can holdtolerances as close as .0002 of an inch.

Called CoordinateMeasuring Machine(shown above), thisspecialized piece ofequipment measuresextremely tight geometric tolerances– as close as .00002 –precisely and consistently. FortnerAerospace actuallyowns three, includinga state-of-the-art CNCCMM, with a 16,000cubic inch work envelope as well asconsistently repeatingwithin .0001.

TurningFortner Aerospace features over 40turning centers in our lathe department. Sizes range from .062 ofan inch to 8 inches, plus we can holdtolerances as close as .0002 of aninch. Although our cutting-edge CNCmachines are some of the best in theindustry, we still employ manual turning machines for those specialinstances that are better suited for ahuman touch.

In addition, our turning shop featuresa Swiss Turning Machine. Thismachine can perform multiple opera-tions during one cycle, which keepshandling of a part to a minimum. Thathelps keep our costs low, and we passthose savings on to you.
