THEAICHIBIODIVERSITYTARGETS
DecisionontheStrategicPlan(COP10)
3.Urges PartiesandotherGovernments,withthesupportofintergovernmentalandotherorganisations,asappropriate,toimplementtheStrategicPlanandinparticularto:
a) Enableparticipationatalllevelstofosterthefullandeffectivecontributionsofwomen,indigenousandlocalcommunities,civilsocietyorganizations,theprivatesectorandstakeholdersfromallothersectorsinthefullimplementationoftheobjectivesoftheConventionandtheStrategicPlanfortheperiod2011-2020;
b) Developnationalandregionaltargets,usingtheStrategicPlanasaflexibleframework,inaccordancewithnationalprioritiesandcapacitiesandtakingintoaccountboththeglobaltargetsandthestatusandtrendsofbiologicaldiversityinthecountry,andtheresourcesprovidedthroughtheresourcemobilisationstrategy,withaviewtocontributingtocollectiveglobaleffortstoreachtheglobaltargets,andreportthereontotheConferenceofthePartiesatitseleventhmeeting;
c) Review,andasappropriateupdateandrevise,theirnationalbiodiversitystrategiesandactionplans,inlinewiththeStrategicPlanandtheguidanceadoptedindecisionIX/9,includingbyintegratingtheirnationaltargetsintotheirnationalbiodiversitystrategiesandactionplans,adoptedasapolicyinstrument,andreportthereontotheConferenceofthePartiesatitseleventhortwelfthmeeting;
d) Usetherevisedandupdatednationalbiodiversitystrategiesandactionplansaseffectiveinstrumentsfortheintegrationofbiodiversitytargetsintonationaldevelopmentandpovertyreductionpoliciesandstrategies,nationalaccounting,asappropriate,economicsectorsandspatialplanningprocesses,bygovernmentandtheprivatesectoratalllevels;
e) MonitorandreviewtheimplementationoftheirnationalbiodiversitystrategiesandactionplansinaccordancewiththeStrategicPlanandtheirnationaltargetsmakinguseofthesetofindicatorsdevelopedfortheStrategicPlanasaflexibleframeworkandtoreporttotheConferenceofthePartiesthroughtheirfifthandsixthnationalreportsandanyothermeanstobedecidedbytheConferenceoftheParties;
f) SupporttheupdatingofnationalbiodiversitystrategiesandactionplansaseffectiveinstrumentstopromotetheimplementationoftheStrategicPlanandmainstreamingofbiodiversityatthenationallevel,takingintoaccountsynergiesamongthebiodiversity-relatedconventionsinamannerconsistentwiththeirrespectivemandates;
