Jasmin is the founder of Beyond the Prophy® and Co-founder of MOMgienists®. She is theexecutive producer and creator of the MOMgienists podcast and the highly successful Beyondthe Prophy podcast.
She serves as an educational consultant for the JACQUES Initiative and is part of the Preparingthe Future Faculty Champions at the University of Maryland, School of Medicine. Jasmin'sproudest career highlight is being in the unique position as a dental hygienist in educatingfuture physicians, dentist, dental hygienists, lawyers, social workers, pharmacists, and nursesinterprofessionally in fighting the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

Jasmin was recently nationally recognized for her work as a2018 Sunstar/RDH Award of Distinction recipient.
She is an expert on HIV/AIDS, an advocate for the opioid epidemic, and crusader for culturalsensitivity in the dental industry.

The US Surgeon general reports that drug overdoses is the leading cause of preventabledeath. Diverse communities across the United States are struggling with the ramifications ofdrug addiction. Substance abuse and addictions is a challenging and major public healthconcern that all medical and dental professionals should be prepared to address. This coursewill outline current trends of drug addiction and the life-saving efforts all professionals canparticipate in to address this epidemic.
Upon completion of this course, participants will:
• Recognize current trends and most commonly used drugs• Identify programs utilized in some states to save lives• Recall the protocol for the administration and delivery of Naloxone

According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), more than 1.2 million individuals are livingwith HIV and 1 out of 8 are not aware of their status. Although the rate of HIV infection hasdecreased by 19%, there are still subsets of the population disproportionately affected. Thehuman immunodeficiency virus (HIV) has existed in the United States since the mid to late1970s. There is no effective cure for this disease but with proper care HIV can be controlled.This interactive discussion will review the fundamentals of HIV/AIDS and current researchregarding management of the disease.
Upon completion of this course, participants will:
• Recognize the fundamentals and recent developments of HIV/AIDS care.• Identify the implications of HIV/AIDS and frequently encountered comorbidities.• Discuss the importance of blood analysis results and clinical treatment.

A Kaiser Permanente Study collected data from over 17,000 members demonstrating a correlationbetween trauma and adult risk behavior or disease. Trauma and adverse childhood experiences(ACE) affect many of the patient populations we serve daily. What should healthcare providers knowprior to initiating treatment? This course provides a comprehensive overview of trauma from aninterprofessional view and effective strategies that can aid in improving patient health outcomes.

Dental professionals value the role that diversity contributes to society. Diversity has evolved andincludes more than race and ethnicity. Many diverse populations are underserved or overlooked.There are a number of populations that have growing evidence of health disparities. Dentalprofessionals must prepare themselves for the future of diversity and develop strategies to providethe best patient-centered care.
Upon completion of this course, participants will:
• Define diversity and its contribution to the patient perception.• Discuss unique subsets of the populations that are often overlooked.• Identify strategies that will promote cultural and linguistically competent care.
