stress as the board exams are round the corner.
Responding to a query, he cited a poem by Hindi poet
Gopaldas Neeraj. He asked parents to steer away
from unreal expectations from children and added
that the report card of their children should not be
treated as their visiting cards. The Prime Minister
also said that parents should not unfairly expect their
wards to bear the burden of their unfulfilled dreams.
Saying that expectations are essential since we cannot
thrive in an atmosphere of despair and unhappiness,
the Prime Minister added "every child has his or her
own potential
and strengths. It
is important to
understand the
positives of
every child."
The Prime
Minister also
told students
not to be totally
relaxed before
an exam but to ask themselves if this present exam is
the exam of their life or just an exam for a particular
grade like class 10 or 12. Once they know the answer
to this question, the pressure on them was bound to
reduce. The students were rapt listeners to the
interaction.
