During the peI'iod 29 Augus t to 9 September 1968, the Second Battalion (-) participated in Operation SUSS~X BAY in coordination and cooperation with ARVH and ROIUIC forces. On 11 Septera-ber the Second Battalion res1..1ll1ed its p2.rticipation in Operati on HANET.JUIm THRUST II. The prll1le.ry mission of the Ba.t.tfl.lion vms to locate and destroy enelilY far>ces, base areas" and caches of materiel and supplies. Secondary missions included providing security for the Liberty Bridge area and protecting the HSR as well as providi!'..g security for the local rice harvest. Ctmtrol of the company assigned to provide security for the Liberty Bridge area al1d . those forces utilized to protect the l'LSR "laS normally exercised directly by the Battalion Rear in order that the Dattalion (-) tiaS better a'01e to conduct offensive onel"ations.

On 23 September 1968 Company H came under the operational control of Pirst Battalion, Fifth 1-1a1"i1168 2.S did Compa.ny F on 25 September 1968.
