I feel I have become joyless, with little emotion except for pain, guilt and shame. I am not the person I was before the abortion.


DO NOT DO IT. Find someone to take your baby. There are thousands of couples who want children and can't have them. It is only nine months out of your life. Don't end uplike me, forever feeling like you will never be forgiven or going through life not feeling anything only shame and guilt. Believe me you think you will forget it but you don't.

I wasn't given any information at all. I was told I was pregnant and how much an abortion would cost and when to show up for it. (At night, in the dr.'s office) Other than that, I have no recollection of being informed of anything else. Nothing was said about fetal development. I did not think of it as killing a child in any sense at the time. I did not know that a baby had started to form already and was developing. I had 2 abortions in 1976, 3 mos. apart, & a 3rd one in 1992. I was unable to take birth control pills due to juvenile diabetes, and was not informed of alternate birth control methods, until after the 2nd abortion when an IUD was suggested which I got until I could no longer have one for medical safety reasons.

I should have known when they gave me the Valium right before the procedure it was to calm my reaction to what was about to happen. Immediately afterwards they took me to a room where other women lay on couches and not one of us was not crying. For over 10 years I suffered bouts of depression and guilt for what I had done. It took counseling from both my pastor and therapist to finally accept I had killed my own child all for a moment of thinking it would be an inconvienence. I still struggle at times in April, the babies due date, with wondering what that child would have looked like, or been like.


I had two previous children. When they became teenagers and faced decisions of their own I shared my story in an attempt to cleanse my soul. They were shocked, angry they had been denied a sister or brother. Eventually they came to accept it and forgive me. My second husband told me he would have still loved me even if I had been pregnant and he would have raised that child also. He felt deeply saddened at my choice and not including him in it.

This is rather a lengthy story but the short of it is that it effected every emotion I felt and every decision I made. I was a self destructive drug addict for almost 25 years, which is a testimony in itself. I was filled with hate and anger and did every thing I could to cover up my pain including several suicide attempts. I never felt I was diserving of anything good. I felt worthy of nothing but punishment.


I know now that it effected my parents almost as much as it did me as well as every person who tried to care about me. I would let no one really care for me. I would purposely drive people away. I lashed out at everyone. And more.


Please, Please reconcider. Not only are you taking a live but the decision to abort your child will have repercussions that you could never imagine. Not mention the fact that it does damage to your body.

When a young girl who is scared to death about everything that's going on around her is explained medical terms, it doesn't sink in right away. Plus, I was told that not many women feel bad after an abortion--WRONG! I don't personally know any women who've had one, but from reading these declarations, I see that the majority of women suffer greatly for years.

I've had marital problems, suicidal thoughts, depression, guilty feelings. Today I'm crying about it as though it were the day it happened.
