DECEMBER n Malibu may soon have a couple of local FM radio stations if the FCC gives the Malibu application the final OK. The reason for two is because FCC rules limit the power and reach of the stations, and long, skinny 27-mile Malibu needs sepa- rate east and west stations to pass muster. In addition to the possibil- ity of National Public Radio, we will finally have an emergency broadcast network to reach all of Malibu— hopefully without dead spots. n Following a lengthy investigation by the FBI and the Federal Dept. of Justice into alleged misconduct, excessive violence and possible cor- ruption in the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, charges were filed in Federal Court against 18 Sheriff’s deputies, including two lieutenants, three sergeants and 13 deputies. n The Federal EPA took a closer look at the alleged Malibu High environmental health problem and the verdict appears to be that we’re OK.
