If you like dragons, a paper dragon is
good. I like to make paper dragons. I
enjoy making and it is big.
First, you need fifteen papers, scis-
sors and pencil. You can choose any
colors of paper. I like to make with all
colors.
Then fold five pieces of paper into
triangles. Then, fold four papers into
rectangles.
Next, take a triangle and stick a rectangle to the left. Keep
doing the pattern this will be your body.
Third, at the end of the triangle put a long triangle and twist it
to the bottom one time. This will be your tail.

Announcing the Newest Animal Born on Earth:
Dolowlbundophant! By Miju Rahman, Grade 5
She is now living in Korea and she looks beau-
tiful. This new creature received her looks from a
mix of animals. Dolowlbundophant is very clever
like me because she speaks many languages. Also
she is soft with fur. She is quiet like an owl, as
responsible as a dog, smart like a dolphin, friendly
as a bunny, honest like an elephant and she is 5
years old. Dolowlbundophant is like me because
we have similar traits.
Ramadan is special to
Muslims. It is on the 7th of
July. Muslims pray to God in
the mosque. They don’t eat
at breakfast and lunch, but
they eat dinner.
Sometimes they cut a
sheep and wash it, and eat
it. During Ramadan, children
have so much fun because
the adults make them laugh.
Also adults have fun too.
Muslims also pray for better
lives. My family likes Ram-
adan more than other cele-
brations.
Shakhina said, “I feel
excited about Ramadan be-
cause sometimes I get pre-
sents and we eat dates.”

All grades had a Door decorating contest. R.I.S cele-
brated Halloween and fall.
Students did it in the week of Halloween. Shakina
made the pumpkins and Ms. J made a tree.
Everyone else made leaves and scarecrows. All other
grades decorated their doors too.
Student council members and teachers voted for the
best door. Roanne Banks said, “It was very exciting
and very fun when we won.”

In our sci-
ence class,
we performed
an experi-
ment togeth-
er. We had
been learning
about the
skeleton, and
we wanted to
find out how
calcium is
important for
our bones.
We put chicken bones in a jar with vinegar.
The bones were very hard and we could not
even bend them. We waited for 14 days to
see what
would hap-
pen to the
bones. At
the end,
they be-
came very
soft. They
were so
soft; we
could bend
them and
twist them!
We dis-
covered that without calcium, our bones
become very weak. Bones are cool and
important for our body!

Introducing the
Cheehliorseshargles!
By Umaid Syed, Grade 5
My creature is harmless, and
cute too. It`s athletic like a chee-
tah, proud and self confident like a
lion, and really gentle, loyal and
loving like horse. This creature is
even fearless and hard working
like an eagle. and it`s brave like a
shark. My cheehliorseshargles can
speak five wonderful languages. It
can swim, fly, run, bite and it has
really big claws. It’s the newest
creature to be found on Earth!
“Good teachers, all students are respectful, and
we use smart technology.” -Karim Al-Hazmi
