Community Resources

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------

The primary focus of our Christmas giving will be the

recently opened The Inn Between, a hospice house

for terminally ill homeless men and women. Every year more than 50 homeless people die on the streets of Salt Lake, but every human being deserves to experience

end of life with dignity. The Inn Between offers a safe and comfortable place with professional hospice care.

They offer help for residents to reconnect with family members and provide a memorial after the passing.

The Inn Between has a wish list on their website for large ticket items as well as every day items . These include towels, bed linens for twin beds, men’s and women’s underwear and socks, and regular size personal care items, such as soap, shampoos, razors, toothbrushes, etc.

There are other items on the wish list at www.theinnbetweenslc.org. Items can be brought to the December luncheon, drop-off in front of the Alta Club. Money donations will also be

collected and passed on. Make checks to The Inn Between. We will also collect checks for the Utah Food Bank, where every $1 buys $8 worth of food. Make checks to the Utah Food Bank.

Besides our charitable giving to the Inn Between, this Christmas, two other activities have been suggested as volunteer opportunities for members. The Road Home has a program for volunteers to make and donate

children’s lunches. Kids Eat is another program that provides food in backpacks for the weekends, distributed

through the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Salt Lake. For more info go to www.kidseatutah.org.

The last Outing organized by Marilyn and Betty was a visit to Park City Mountain Resort with a lift ride and a hike to enjoy the fall colors. Marilyn and Betty have been in charge of the Outing with Marilyn and Betty for over 15 years. Dana Hughes and Nanita Wittman will be our new coor-dinators and we are all pleased that they have volun-teered to continue this great activity. And again our sincerest “Thanks” to Marilyn and Betty.
