Dates for your diary

Micah 6v8:

“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you?

To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God”

What is humility?

Understanding and accepting who God is and who we are

“Humility is not thinking less of yourself; it’s thinking of yourself less.”

Walk Humbly:

How do you respond if you are put to shame?

Roberto Feruzzi, 1897 Giovanni Battista Salvi da Sassoferrato, 17th century

Luke 1v26-28:

God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee,

to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph,

a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary.

The angel went to her and said,

“Greetings, you who are highly favoured!

The Lord is with you.”

Luke 1v29-33:Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of

greeting this might be. But the angel said to her,

“Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favour with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus.

He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High.

The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever;

his kingdom will never end.”

Luke 1v34-38:

“How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?” The angel answered,

“The Holy Spirit will fall upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you.

So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God”

… “For nothing is impossible with God”

Luke 1v39:

Mary answered

“I am the Lord’s servant,

may it be to me as you have said”

Luke 2v1-5:In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that

all the world should be registered …

… and all went to be registered, each to his own town.

Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David,

which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed,

who was with child.

Luke 2v6-7:

While they were there, the time came for her to give birth.

And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger,

because there was no place for them in the inn.

Luke 2v10-12:

“I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David

a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord.

And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger”

Luke 2v34-35:

“This child is destined to cause the falling and rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be spoken against,

so that the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed.

And a sword will pierce your own soul too.”

“Not my will, but yours be done”

“I am the Lord's Servant,

may it be to me as You have said”

Acts 1v14:

They all joined together constantly in prayer,

along with the women

and Mary, the mother of Jesus

and with his brothers.
