The Holy Family Luke 2: 41-52 In this week’s gospel Jesus, Mary and Joseph take a religious journey. 1. Have you ever been lost? Was your being lost on purpose? How did you feel? How did your parents react? 2. Did you ever feel God calling you to do something special? How did you answer that call? Did it make your life be&er? 3. As a member of a “Holy Family”, how strong a role does God play in your family? 4. What kind of things do you think you could do to increase God’s interac-on in your home?

Dear Parish Family –
Oh the start of a new year! How exci-ng to celebrate the birth
of Jesus and a new year within a week of each other!
Celebra-ons galore everywhere!
Unfortunately for my folks, in 1974 they were disappointed
that their baby did not arrive before the new year and they did
not get a tax write-off. I arrived 4 days into 1975. With that
being said, every year I get to keep celebra-ng with my birth-
day a few days a:er celebra-ng Jesus’s birthday and the new
year. It’s not all what it’s cracked up to be anymore. I am in
my 40s. I appreciate every day I have, don’t get me wrong, but
it’s not like when we were li&le and you had your friends over
and had a party and cake! This year, my birthday falls on a Fri-
day, and of all the Fridays to fall on, it’s the first Friday of the
month, so I get to celebrate it with Faith Fill-Up Friday.
Faith Fill-up Friday started with the thought that if I got a few
kids to come and say prayer with me in the morning we could
enjoy breakfast together a:erwards before they head to school
and I head to the office. Granted, it’s really early in the morn-
ing (6:55), but I get up even earlier than that to fix breakfast.
Did you know we have an average of 15-20 kids and 5-10 adults
a&end every month for this program? It’s open to everyone in
the parish (those 5th grade and younger have to have a chaper-
one.) The program always has something hot and consistently
has bacon and sausage, except during Lent of course. Some
months we have eggs or gravy and biscuits and just last month
we had pancakes. But in January, we are going to celebrate
everyone’s birthday and I am going to serve Ice Cream Cake for
breakfast. Isn’t it always good to start with dessert first? What
could go wrong with that? Yes, it may be cold outside in
January, and yes, it’s 7am in the morning, but we are cele-
bra-ng. We are celebra-ng coming together for prayer and
that we are star-ng a new year together and we will celebrate
everyone’s birthday no ma&er when it is. I cannot say how
excited it makes me to see so many young folks come together
at 6:55am once a month to pray and share in a meal. If you
are available, awake, and want to celebrate with prayer, please
join us for cake this Friday, January 4th at the SP Chapel at
6:55 am.
Happy New Year & Happy Birthday to you-from me-whenever
your birthday is!
Dawn Schepers
Youth Minister

The Holy Family Coloring Page
O Jesus, only-bego.en Son of the Eternal Father, well-beloved Son of the Blessed Virgin and foster Child of St. Joseph, we most fer-vently implore Thee, through Mary Thine ever-blessed Mother and St. Joseph Thy foster father, take our children under Thy special charge and enclose them in the love of Thy Sacred Heart. They are the children of Thy Father in Heaven, created a,er His own image; they are Thy possession, for Thou hast purchased them with Thy Precious Blood; they are temples of the Holy Ghost, who sanc+fied them in Bap+sm and implanted in their hearts the virtues of faith, hope and charity. O most loving Jesus, rule and guide them, that they may live accord-ing to the holy Catholic Faith, that they may not waver in their con-fidence in Thee and that they may ever remain faithful to Thy love.
