OUR LADY OF MOUNT CARMEL DENVER, COLORADO Food For Faith Living from the desk of Fr. Mark

The meaning of the Nativity is an unending flow of ideas, purposes and the fulfillment of what is simply referred to as “our dreams.” It brings to mind and heart a stream of convictions that grow deeper and expansive with each new insight each new ray of light enhancing understanding, each grasp of a truth which is inexhaustible in its profound mystery which comes full circle when contemplating the presence of God! Such is the richness of this treasure. Each and every person who delves into this wholeheartedly, sincerely and humbly, experiences the inner joy and peace it is meant to give. It is the gift of life and the path to eternity! That is a lengthy, perhaps cluttered and confusing, way of summing up the gift of Christmas is a Child Who joins us on our earthly sojourn. It is the gift dispelling fear and darkness, energizing hope and trust in ourselves and our goodness, love, compassion and hunger for truth and justice which are our vanguard against every form of evil and the violence experienced when the Gift is ignored, rejected, taken for granted, worse, and sadly, unknown. We read the Scriptures and strive to understand their meaning. Sincerely, various interpretations bring about conclusions, each and all contributing to the way we live our lives. Such is the human condition which becomes the human dilemma. How do we sort all of this out? And how can anyone be certain when they do? The mystery continues. Yes, it does for God is Mystery and God’s ways are beyond our comprehension. All our experiences of God are begun by God, each attracting us to go further and deeper until we are convinced: God is! The conviction is pure trust which opens our hearts and minds to invite God into our lives, to respond to what God is saying to me. Such is faith. We celebrate Our Lord’s birth. In all of the beautiful stories and rich imagery and symbolic signs, found in the readings, the light comes and fear and ignorance dissipate with each embrace of God’s message, love, mercy, forgiveness and faithfulness. We accept the Gift! We give thanks for the Gift. Through Him, we live as gifts to each other, all others and all of creation! True Christmas joy and peace be yours to share and bless each other with. It is the truest gift we can give, receive and rejoice in! May this be yours today and evermore! A joyous and peace-filled Birth of Jesus to you!

He who keeps your soul, does He not know it? And will He not render to each man according to his deeds? - Proverbs 24:11-12 -Excerpts from the 40 Days of Life Campaign
