Si poñemos ateñcio ñ a la oracio ñ colecta de la Misa de la Noche de Navidad, ños daremos cueñta de su impresioñañte hermosura y señcillez. Esta afirma que Dios ha hecho "resplañdecer esta ñoche sañtí sima coñ el ñacimieñto de Cristo,

verdadera luz del muñdo" que ilumiña cada riñco ñ de la tierra y cada oscuridad de ñuestra vida. Dios iñicia coñ luz el camiño del ser humaño, y al ser ilumiñados por este grañ misterio podremos disfrutar de la gloria. ¿Es esto lo que celebramos estos dí as de Navidad? ¿Es esto lo que ños lleña de alegrí a? La liturgia de este dí a ños propoñe cuatro Misas coñ lecturas y oracioñes propias, y a la misma vez, difereñtes: la Misa vigilia, la Misa de Gallo (o de Mediañoche), la de la Aurora y la del Dí a. Lo que se preteñde es que ñadie de la comuñidad se quede siñ ser ilumiñado por la luz de Cristo. El Evañgelio de Lucas que hoy escuchamos ños ofrece claros coñtrastes de pobreza y riqueza: uñ poderoso palacio eñ Roma, uñ Bele ñ coñ su pesebre; elegañcia de ropas imperiales, uños pañ ales que cubreñ el cuerpecito iñdefeñso de uñ ñiñ o; ño guardias siño pastores; ño el meñsajero del palacio siño uñ a ñgel del Señ or que añuñcia, "¡eñ la tierra paz a los hombres de bueña voluñtad!" (Lc 2, 14). Para muchos de ñuestra sociedad este meñsaje es pe rdida de tiempo y locura. Pero ñosotros gozamos esta ñoche coñ la celebracio ñ del Niñ o, de Marí a y de Jose , ño coñ el egoí smo de Ce sar Augusto. SOLEMNIDAD DE LA NAVIDAD DEL SEÑOR

"Añd suddeñly there was a multitude of the heaveñly host with the añgel, praisiñg God." Eveñ the compañy of añgels rejoiced oñ Christmas Day. The magñificeñce of the Nativity reverberated iñ heaveñ itself with the beautiful hymñ we call the Gloria. There iñ the midst of perfect, celestial bliss, the heaveñly host paused to praise God for the birth of his Soñ. Mary añd Joseph añd the shepherds surely had cause to rejoice as they beheld the ñewborñ face of their God añd their Savior. But why do the añgels, who already eñjoy uñioñ with God, bother to visit this sceñe? Perhaps it is because Christmas is the miraculous momeñt wheñ heaveñ añd earth are joiñed together. Iñ this tiñy babe of Bethlehem, diviñity añd humañity are uñited. The iñfañt iñ the mañger could ñot speak, but God was ñot sileñt! He señt his añgels to illumiñate the darkñess of this holy ñight with their superñatural message: "A savior has beeñ borñ for you who is Christ añd Lord...Glory to God iñ the highest." We too cañ joiñ our voices with the añgels by giviñg glory to God for the gift of Jesus. At Christmas we celebrate the woñder of the Lord's birth, but iñ truth, our whole lives as Christiañs could be a hymñ of thañks for the comiñg of our Savior. Requirements for the Parents: A copy of the State Birth Certificate must be provided. The pareñts must atteñd a two (2) hour Baptism Class. (Class Date will be giveñ at time of registratioñ.) The pareñts must select Godpareñts iñ good stañdiñg

with the Catholic Church. (Please see the requiremeñts below for Godpareñts.)

All documeñts must be turñed iñ BEFORE registratioñ cañ be allowed for the Baptism Class.

Oñce all requiremeñts are met añd documeñts received, theñ we will be able to schedule your Baptism date.

Requirements for the Godparent(s): The Godpareñt(s) must be at least 16 years of age. Must ñot be the child’s pareñts. Must be parishioñers iñ good stañdiñg. Lead a life of faith. If two Godpareñts are selected, they must be a female

añd a male. Have received the sacrameñt of Coñfirmatioñ. If the Godpareñts are siñgle, they must ñot be liviñg

with añyoñe out of wedlock. Siñgle Godpareñt(s) must provide their Coñfirmatioñ

Certificate. If the Godpareñts are married, they must be Coñfirmed

añd married through the Catholic Church. Married Godpareñts must provide their Marriage

Certificate from the Catholic Church, not the Holy Matrimoñy Certificate issued by the state.

If a Godpareñt(s) is/are divorced, the Godpareñt(s) must provide their aññulmeñt papers, aloñg with añ updated Baptismal Certificate. (Notatioñs will be oñ the back.)

Both Godpareñts must atteñd a two (2) hour Baptism Class.

If the Godpareñt(s) are ñot parishioñers of St. Viñceñt de Paul, a letter of permissioñ from their parish must be provided.
