TERESA (Terri) BAXTER….Hi! I’m Teresa or Terri Baxter, a transplant from Clarksburg, WV. I moved here 10 years ago and started teaching at William Byrd High School as a Culinary teacher, with a side of fash- ion education. Yep, I’m a Family & Consumer/Home Ec teacher. After two years at WBHS, I transferred to Burton Center for Arts and Technology. I live with my three grandchildren and daughter as well as two chihua- huas and two rescue dogs. I’ve been a quilter for sev- eral years. I’m self taught and still have lots to learn. I would like to be involved with the charity quilts but am excited about any quilting experience. On my quilting bucket list are quilt related trips; quilt retreats; and meeting like minded people. I look forward to the new year and the programs, workshops and activities we’ve got planned for January – May! I am excited to see you at the December celebration on Zoom with your holiday attire and head gear (hat or fascinator)!! We’ve got some fun things planned and a full calendar of 5 months to present!! You don’t want to miss a thing! Thank you to the Executive Committee, Committee Chairs and Committee members for their hard work these past 8 months! ber participants and 4 non-member participants). 149 quilts were completed and turned in by the challenge deadline - almost triple the original goal of 50 quilts. We donated 31 quilts to the Women’s & Children’s Shelter at the Rescue Mission and 30 quilts to the Presbyterian Center,

SE. Guild member gave 15 quilts to individuals in need of comfort. ~Judy Bradley

DID YOU KNOW ........“Tips for Binding”

I have been lucky enough to volunteer at several of our Quilt Shows in the judging room during the judging process. I observed while the judges looked at each quilt, individually checking for construction of the quilt, color usage and quilting. They judge so many details of each quilt but make sure to include words of praise for each quilter. One of the construction critiques that stands out in my mind, is the binding. They not only looked at the binding, but they check to ensure the binding was filled with the quilt – no float-ing of the binding, and then looking at the corners of the binding. Did that corner binding look “bulky” or was it “flat”? I found a YouTube video called “Binding with Patrick Lose: The Quil-ters’ Community” and he shared his binding tricks including how to get a good corner. This special trick starts around the 7 minute and 24 seconds mark of the video and his explanation is SO MUCH BETTER than I could demo!!
