THOUGHTS FOR THE JOURNEY

Twas the Night Before Jesus Came

’Twas the night before Jesus came and all through the house Not a creature was praying, not one in the house. Their Bibles were lain on the shelf without care In hopes that Jesus would not come there. The children were dressing to crawl into bed, Not once ever kneeling or bowing a head. And Mom in her rocker with baby on her lap Was watching the Late Show while I took a nap. When out of the East there arose such a clatter, I sprang to my feet to see what was The matter. Away to the window I flew like a flash Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash! When what to my wondering eyes should appear But angels proclaiming that Jesus was here. With a light like the sun sending forth a bright ray I knew in a moment this must be The Day! The light of His face made me cover my head It was Jesus! Returning just like He had said. And though I possessed worldly wisdom and wealth I cried when I saw Him in spite of myself. In the Book of Life which He held in His Hand Was written the name of every saved man. He spoke not a word as He searched for my name; When He said “It’s not here” My head hung in shame! The people whose names had been written with love He gathered to take to His Father above. With those who were ready He rose without a sound While all the rest were left standing around. I fell to my knees, but it was too late; I had waited too long and this sealed my fate. I stood and I cried as they rose out of sight; Oh, if only I had been ready tonight.

In the words of this poem the meaning is clear; The coming of Jesus is drawing near.There’s only one life and when comes the last call

We’ll find that the Bible was true after ALL!

It’s Christmas . . . and the kids in your church will be bouncing off the walls with excitement! Lean into their natural enthusiasm by giving your environment a cool, undercover spy theme. After all, we’re giving kids a secret mission to show compassion to the people around them—not just at Christmas, but all throughout the year. God gave us the greatest example of compassion when He sent us His Son, Jesus. We can follow His lead by sharing His love with others, and caring enough to do something about someone else’s need.

Happy birthday, Jesus! Yes, we know that Christmas is all about Jesus’ birthday, but do your preschoolers know? It will be a new idea to some of them. We have the best jobs in the world because we get to share with preschoolers for the first time that Christmas is all about Jesus’ birthday! Jesus has a birthday? Yep! He sure does! And, we are going to celebrate it BIG! We also want our preschoolers to know that the reason we celebrate Jesus’ birthday is because Jesus is God’s Son. God’s Son deserves a celebration as big as Christmas and a birthday bash as big as what we’re going to give Him this month! He is that special! So, gather up all the birthday celebration you can and prepare to party all month long! It’s not just balloons and party hats. We are sharing the true story that

God gave us His only Son, Jesus, and HE is worth celebrating!

Important Announcements On Wednesday, December 19th, C4 will be from 6:00PM-8:00PM. A

permission slip must be completed to attend our caroling event!

We will not have C4 on Wednesday, December 26th or Wednesday, January 2nd. C4 will resume on Wednesday, January 9th, along

with Engage! We hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Dinner will not be served at C4 during the month of December due to there being no Engage! Dinner will be served again beginning on

January 9, 2019!

Christmas,” with guest speaker, Donna Heimbaugh, on Wednesday, December 12th at 6:00pm. A salad, spaghetti dinner and dessert
