What’s Inside
From the Desk of the DOM:
December Prayer Emphasis for Peru
Pray for the precious Iquitos children that they will hear and see God at work
and desire to know Him more. Pray that these children and their
families' lives will be changed forever by the words and actions of the ones sent by our Lord to minister to them.
OBU will be sending a group of college students during the Christmas break. Pray that this large team (15 plus) will be safe and able to do God’s work in these villages. Please also pray that
they are able to find reasonable ticket prices for the flight.

are we there yet?
No – but we’re close!
For the first time in history, reaching the final destination of our Great Commission journey is in sight! We can actually identify which people groups remain untouched by the Gospel, and we have a strategy for reaching them. But for that to happen we’re going to have to pay the cost. “You have to get out of your comfort zone, you have to get out of your shell,” says Theron Smith, a college student on short-term assignment in Africa. “You have to get out of your suburban house or your American dream and realize there’s a world that’s dying and going to hell every day.” The last miles of this Great Commission journey will require extraordinary commitment from every believer. It includes giving sacrificially to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering® so those God calls to invest their lives in sharing the Gospel can go. Are we there yet? No, but in obedience we can get there, fulfilling what Christ commanded us to do together as His followers.

What’s Going on in Our Churches
I was reading an article by Henry Blackaby that I want to share with you this month. "In the Scriptures, the exhortation to prepare for the day of the Lord is usu-ally given to God's people, rather than
to unbelievers. Christians must be prepared for Christ's return, so that they can properly respond to Him. The most important thing about the day of the Lord is clear: it comes unexpectedly. In Scripture, there are several references to the day of the Lord. Often this refers to Jesus' first coming or His second coming, but it can also refer to any time God comes to His people, either in salvation or judgment (Isa. 13:6; Joel 2:11; Mal. 3:2). Amos had predicted that the day of the Lord would be far different than the people expected (Amos 5:18). The people of his day thought it would come with joy and singing, yet Amos said there would be grieving and judgment of sin. When Jesus came the first time, His coming caught people by surprise. Because they were expecting the Messiah to come in a different way, many did not rec-ognize Him. The final day of the Lord will be at Christ's second coming. Meanwhile, there will be times when God will come to you, your family, and friends. You need to be watching for the signs of God's convicting work in your children, your friends, and your coworkers. You must take notice when God begins to do a special work in the lives of the people in your church. It may be that you have an unusual sense of God's presence in a worship service and you begin to intercede for those who are present. Prepare yourself now and pay attention to what is happening in the lives of those around you. You may discover that the day of the Lord is at hand." Let us all be ready to share Christ when we have an opportunity to do so. Bro. Anthony

Many friends and family members helped me to reach the goal of packing 155 shoe boxes this year. Without your support I would be struggling to attain the goal. I thank you very much. Each morning I praise the Lord for the "encouragers" who support my shoe box, writing, and other mis-sion efforts. I pray for you that God will bless you and smooth out the rough spots in your journeys through life. I have many wonderful friends. Thank you sincerely. Dolores White Kiser

Disaster Relief Feeding Unit The Disaster Relief Feeding Unit prepared meals for the Blue Cap meeting at Falls Creek November 5 and 6. We prepare things a little differently for this event. It gives us the opportunity to actually “cook” a little bit instead of just opening cans or heating pre-cooked dishes. We served a meal in 2009 that went over very well, so well that our state directors wanted us to cook again this year. We served another special meal this year and we have already been asked to be the team that prepares for next year’s (2011) meal. Nine team members went along which is a pretty good turn out. It’s a great opportunity to have the team work together in a relaxed atmosphere that provides a good time and promotes camaraderie. God gets the praise! We almost left both trailers in Durant when we went to Falls Creek. We planned to haul what we needed in two pickup trucks because we use the kitchen in the cabin where we stay. At the last minute, I changed my mind and decided to take our small trailer even though it meant hauling a heavy convection oven and grill which we would not need. We did not want to unload the two heavy items. You may be aware that Oklahoma Disaster Relief has been feeding meals at the OKC jail for several weeks, because they are in the process of rebuilding their sewer system and their kitchen facility is not useable. I got a call from our state feeding unit director while at Falls Creek. They had a problem with one of their convection ovens and were trying to find one they could borrow. Bryan Association was one of two associations that might have one available. It just so happened that we had ours with us, already halfway to OKC. We loaded it onto another member’s pickup and he hauled it to OKC and meals were con-tinued without interruption. Is God great or what? We serve a mighty God and He is in control! Upcoming Senior Events
The Bryan Baptist Association would
like to announce that the “Cooperating
Churches Under God” Vol. II is now
available at the BBA office for $15 each.
This is a wonderful addition to the Vol. I
but also stands on it’s own as the
history of our whole association from
1976 - now. This is not so much to docu-
ment what we have done, but to trace
the hand of God, Himself, as the Hus-
bandman overseeing His vineyard.
Please stop by the office and get your
copy. This would make a very special
Christmas gift!
