SYBA Fair Ministry Friday, Sept. 1, - Saturday, Sept. 9

The ministry to the traveling fair workers has certainly changed since 1996. That year, a hospitality tent was set up for quick breaks for the workers. Now, two meals are provided by SYBA churches every day—one before the fair opens and another after the fair closes for the night AND we have our own SYBA shelter to serve from. The workers are also given a well-filled hygiene bag along with the opportunity to receive clothing, shoes, and blankets. Volunteers give free haircuts and other volunteers serve as laundromat buddies. If you or your church would be willing to be a part of this ministry, please contact Mary Jane Hoover at 704-873-4372 x3 or [email protected].

Food Pantry & Clothes Closet Recently, one of the volunteers who serves as an encourager with the Food Pantry & Clothes Closet ministries wrote about a couple who was at the Baptist Center receiving assistance: “They both have been saved but are having a hard time. The Lord has sent them here for love from us.” The couple commented how all the volunteers had been so sweet to them and how much they appreciated the food, clothes, school supplies, a birthday bag, and present for one child. Within hours of being at the Baptist Center, this couple faced a heartbreaking tragedy. I am sure if we spoke with this couple today, they would not talk about the food or clothing items, but would remember the kindness shown them. Please pray for this couple and their family. The Food Pantry & Clothes Closet is not about food and clothing, but about sharing God’s loving, eternal Message with others! Thank you for your continued support so others may learn about Jesus.

The school counselor is also working on community help needs and involving the SYBA mission team in other activities during the day at the school.

Filled backpacks may be delivered to the Baptist Center during business hours (9:00-4:00) on Monday, October 30, to Thursday, November 2. The mission trip to Kentucky will be November 16-18th. Please sign up by Friday, November 3, to be a part of this team.
