Term 1 has given us the opportunity to embrace these blessings, enjoy Gods glorious creation and marvel at His creativity. Take the humble chicken egg. Its something we take for granted; they are relatively cheap and easily available. They can be fried, scrambled, boiled or poached. They are used in baking and for sweet foods and savory. Some chickens can lay 2 or 3 eggs each day. Some lay green eggs or blue eggs and some lay eggs with double yolks. Eggs can be large or very smallDid you know that a hen can lay a fertile egg which can be left on the shelf for an entire week. After a week, if you keep it at 37.5 degrees for 21 days, it will form a chicken. If the temperature is too low, the baby chick will not form, if it is too high the egg will be cooked! How infinite is our God. Primary and Secondary Agriculture students have been taking a close look at the chicken egg. Here at Kuyper we have Commercial Laying Hens, Meat Birds, Bantams, Leghorns and an Olive Egger. We have studied the chicken and the egg (discussed which came first), hatched our own chicks, collected an abundance of eggs and are in the process of growing our own meat birds. In these uncertain times, I encourage you to look for the blessings, and what is certain. Marvel at the world, look for the good, see the small things, and thank the Lord that everything is in His hands. Thursday 19 March 2020 Dear Parents & Friends of Kuyper,

What a wonderful world we live in; a world filled with abundance of love and blessings, from sunshine, fresh water and green grass to family, friends and wonderful community. Term 1 has given us the opportunity to embrace these blessings, enjoy God’s glorious creation and marvel at His creativity. Take the humble chicken egg. It’s something we take for granted; they are relatively cheap and easily available. They can be fried, scrambled, boiled or poached. They are used in baking and for sweet foods and savory. Some chickens can lay 2 or 3 eggs each day. Some lay green eggs or blue eggs and some lay eggs with double yolks. Eggs can be large or very small… Did you know that a hen can lay a fertile egg which can be left on the shelf for an entire week.

May his blessings and peace be yours, sent to you from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord. How we praise God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every blessing in heaven because we belong to Christ. Ephesians 1:2-4

Notes & Reminders As we are no longer using the bubblers at school, please ensure that your child has their own drink bottle. If your child forgets their drink bottle, they will not be neglected! They may ask for a cup at the Office. As part of their fundraising for Vanuatu, Year 11 will be collecting recyclable plastic bottles and cans until Thursday 9 April. Please deposit your donations in the lime coloured recycling box in the sails area. All donations need to be clean, whole (not crushed) and eligible for the 10c recycling refund. Year 3 are currently learning Ukulele with Mr Weule. If you would like to purchase a ukulele for your child (it’s not essential as we have plenty to lend), you may order and pay for one at the Office before Friday 27 March, or we can send an order form home. The cost is $35. The offer is open to all Kuyper families. If your child is joining our Seussical cast, there is an opportunity to purchase a souvenir shirt or hoodie for rehearsals, and as a memento. The shirts are $33 an the hoodie is $42. They are not compulsory. An order form has been handed out today. More are available from the Office. Your order and payment are due back to the Office by Tuesday 24 March.

Prayer & Praise

• Give thanks for our beautiful outdoor environment where we are safe to fellowship, play and explore. Give thanks that God is our God and He is always with us!

• Give thanks for our country and our leaders. Pray for all who live here as we negotiate the threat of the Coronavirus; pray for peace, compassion, and truth.

• Continue to pray for communities and individuals struggling with the effects of drought and bushfires.

• Continue to pray for ongoing healing for all damage to Makayla’s body, including her spine, as well as pain relief. Pray for peace and hope as they continue on this journey.

• Continue to pray for the Miller family and for Josh, for immunity and strength to improve and an end to recurrent illnesses. Pray for healing, wisdom, hope, strength and stamina for all on this difficult journey.

Google Classroom We have been made aware that there is currently some confusion around the use and function of Google Classroom. We trust the following information will address these concerns. Parents of Primary Students: Yesterday, Primary students (K-6) received logins and passwords to allow them to use the Chromebooks in the school library. At this stage, this is solely for the purpose of accessing certain classwork activities during Library lessons. Google Classroom is NOT being used in the Primary School at this stage. Parents of Secondary Students: If you receive a Google Classroom invitation from a Secondary teacher, acceptance of this invitation will trigger an automated email from Google each Friday. This email is a summary of new entries made by teachers in their individual subjects throughout that week. There are no links within these emails. They are simply to keep you up to date with what your child is doing in class. Google Classroom does not have a parent portal facility. This means that parents cannot be given their own login access. In order to view a student’s Google Classroom, parents need to ask their children to show them; much like you would do with work done in an exercise book. Our aim is always to keep our school families as up to date as possible with all matters relating to their children’s learning. Should you have any further questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to phone, email or call in to the School Office.

NAPLAN Cancelled Due to the complexities posed by COVID-19, the Education Council has today made a decision to cancel both the 2020 NAPLAN test (due to run from 12-22 May) and the Coordinated Practice Test for NAPLAN Online (which would have commenced next week).

And some things we’ve all enjoyed lately… Year 8 had a great Medieval History Day this week. We played Medieval-style games and students prepared and partook of a Medieval-style banquet. I would like to commend the students on their wonderful outfits, model presentations and excellent attitude. A big thank you also goes to Mrs Plane with her preparations for cooking. It was a really enjoyable day. Year 9 also enjoyed their history excursion to The Rocks. Students focused on the experiences of the Foy family, looking at letters, death certificates and archaeological evidence from their home. It was a terrific day. Natalie Stewart: I really enjoyed studying the Foy family and learning about how they lived, died and what they did during the time of the Bubonic Plague. I liked handling the actual documents from that time. It was quite sad learning of the many infants that died early from the plague. Kaitlyn McCaull: For me, one of the most enjoyable parts of this experience was seeing the remains of the houses from the rocks as it gave insight into the more practical part of life from the 1800's. We were able to see the remains of shops, homes and the streets and walk over the ruins.
