Learn – Achieve – Enjoy “Exceptional Pastoral Care” (Ofsted, September 2018) KEY DATES Friday 16 th July – NURSERY ENDS Wednesday 21 st July – Y6 Graduation Disco Friday 23 rd July – 11am Y6 Graduation Friday 23 rd July – Reception to Y5 finish at 1.30pm HEADTEACHER’S MESSAGE After a disappointing end to an exciting Euro Cup final, it was a great opportunity to talk to the children about resilience, courage and bravery. During Monday’s assembly I took the opportunity to talk to the children about an ugly topic – racism. We discussed how it is important to stand up for what is right, even if you stand alone. I explained to the children how I had messaged all 3 young men who missed their penalties and thanked them for being courageous and inspirational. Diversity and Equality will feature heavily in next year’s School Development Plan and we will continue to ensure the children at Morden will be the adults of the future to make a difference. Many of our classes, inspired by this great team, have written to the players this week. I will include a poem from Purple class in this week’s Messenger. It was extremely fitting that this week we had a MUFTI WEEK of Rainbow colours to remind children that “In a world where you can be anything, BE KIND.” I would like to wish our Nursery children a lovely summer holiday as they finish on Friday. For those who are continuing with us in Reception in September, we look forward to seeing you soon and for those families who are leaving us, we wish you a happy and healthy future. Rainbow for Kindness Fundraiser Thank you for your sponsorship and support of our 100 Laps for Kindness”. We look forward to telling you how much we raised from this sponsored event next week. HEADTEACHER’S MESSAGE After a disappointing end to an exciting Euro Cup final, it was a

great opportunity to talk to the children about resilience, courage and bravery.

Diversity and Equality will feature heavily in next year’s School Development Plan and we will continue to ensure the children at Morden will

be the adults of the future to make a difference. Many of our classes, inspired by this great team, have written to the players this week. SPECIAL ASSEMBLY FOR MRS WALSH On Monday the children surprised Mrs Walsh with a special assembly to celebrate her retirement. Mrs Walsh has been at Morden for 21 years as both a class teacher and more recently a Higher Level Teaching Assistant. Mrs Walsh has touched the lives of many children – in fact some of our current parents were pupils of Mrs Walsh as well! We sang her a specially written version of the Frozen song, “Let it go” but the words were changed to “Mrs Walsh” and linked with all the things the children will remember Mrs Walsh for. Enjoy your well deserved retirement Mrs Walsh, we will miss you terribly! xxx

NEW PURPLE CLASS, YEAR 4 SWIMMING (Currently Year 3 Blue Class) A reminder that all Y3 parents should make the swimming payment for lessons via their ParentPay account before the end of this school year. Collection arrangements for the first two weeks of Year 4 will be sent out in due course. Many thanks.

REMINDER OF REPORTING ABSENCES Reminder to all families, Please can you make sure that you telephone or email the office before 9.00am on the day of your child's absence. It is really important to let the office know a reason for their absence. Also, if you have changed your mobile/work number, please let the office know as soon as possible in case we need to contact you if there is an emergency at any time. Whist we appreciate it may be difficult to arrange some appointments out of school hours, the office needs to know in advance any appointments made and you will also need to provide evidence of the appointment time and date. Thank-you.
