Dear Friends in Christ, Every so often I like to take the opportunity to answer common questions we receive in this space in the bulletin. I like to call these articles “checking the mailbag,” and so here is our latest mailbag questions:
• What’s the deal with all of the envelopes in our envelope packets? As everyone is aware, we have now been mailing out our envelopes every so often throughout the year and these packets include the usual collection envelopes that help keep our Parishes open—the weekly envelopes—and a number of extra “special envelopes.” We are required to include envelopes for national collections or certain larger causes (this month there are two: the collections for the Church in Central and Eastern Europe and the Church in Latin America). These funds go towards general projects in those designated areas supported by the Bishops of the US. The other envelopes are for local ministries that have a direct impact in our Parishes and in the Fremont area (think St. Vincent de Paul, or Adult Faith Formation, or music, etc.). While we certainly like to support all of the good work being done everywhere, we invite Parishioners to make use of all of the “special envelopes” as they see fit.
• Since Pat Heyman has retired, who is taking on her role? Pat did a phenomenal job in the new role we created when I arrived—Evangelization and Parish Life Coordinator. Over time, we have realized that in order accomplish the steep goals in our Strategic Plan and to continue the positive momentum we are experiencing as Parishes, we need to make this position full-time. We hope to begin the process of hiring a new Director of Evangelization and Parish Life in the very near future. Please pray for the success of this effort!
• How have the Pints with Priests been going and where will the next one be? Fr. Jeff and I have both thoroughly enjoyed are first three Pints with Priests events. This past week we held our third event at Casa Fiesta and had about 80 people in attendance. It is always wonderful whenever we can get together as a Church Family, and so we look forward to future events. We hope to announce the next date very soon and we hope you can join us.
While we regularly receive many questions, these three seem to be the most common recently and we hope this helps. Thanks to our new & improved website (growinholiness.org), you can always send your questions/concerns via an online form. As we continue to move forward and seek ways to grow in holiness together, I hope everyone feel the same excitement and fulfillment as I do. We are truly blessed at St. Ann and St. Joseph Catholic Parishes! Sincerely Yours in Christ, Fr. Michael Pastor

The more we contemplate in the light of faith the great gifts of baptism, the more we are astounded by the munificence of God’s bounty. Moreover, it would be a mistake to regard the effects of this initial grace as a passing phenomena. The Trinity of baptism is with us all the days of our life. The Father is always present, providentially watching day and night over His adopted children. The Word is always present, guiding them through the cares and hardships of this life, toward their eternal destiny. All three divine Persons of the Trinity unceasingly watch over us with their all-powerful protection. Here, in the indwelling of the Blessed Trinity, lies a truth that ought never to be overlooked. Perhaps we are too much accustomed to weighing only the personal efforts of the soul in the quest for perfection. Such personal effort is certainly necessary, but we should not forget the unceasing impulse and direction of the Holy Spirit, or the primordial and precursive action on the part of God. Jesus has said: If anyone love me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our abode with him. Is it clear, then, that not only the Word comes to the soul. How, as a matter of fact, could the Father and the Son be separated from the Spirit of Love? And if all the Trinity come to dwell in the Christian soul, is it not to abide inactive. My Father, said Jesus, works even until now, and I work. This continuous action of the Trinity is what keeps the physical world from falling into nothingness, and it operates all the more in this supernatural world of souls. The course of divine life which proceeds from the Father to the Son and binds them together in the Holy Spirit, is continued externally in those mysterious and invisible missions that transform souls to the image of the Trinity. All holiness is but allowing oneself to be made Godlike. It is God that leads to God.
From Magnificat (Vol. 21, No. 11), written by Father M.M. Philipon
You probably have seen this joy filled family around our parishes: Cori & Tony Foos have been lifelong members of St. Joseph. They both graduated from SJCC and were married at St. Joseph Church. Cori works for SJCC as a Counselor and is also an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. Tony works for Moser Construction as Superintendent. Both are always willing to lend a helping hand and get involved in both Bishop Hoffman Catholic Schools and the parish. They have four daughters:
Savannah, Katie, Isabelle, and Lilly who all sing in the Youth Choir. Savannah, Katie and Isabelle are Altar Servers ... I’m sure Lilly will be serving in the near future! They all help with the parish fish fry, and you most likely will see them at parish activities and being part of our community life at St. Ann and St. Joseph. Thank you, Foos Family, for all you do for our parishes and school. You are such light to us all by your loving example.
