INTRODUCTION PAGE l
L'DH 93 - l was drilled to fulfill the
OPAP proposal. The object of the drilling was
to delineate a contact between the highly altered
Gauthier volcanics found in DDH 91 - l-l arid the more
uniform dull green tuffs usually found within the
Gauthier Volcanics. A secondary objective was to
encounter a shear zone noted in the Remote Sensing
program carried out Tor claim holders on the Southern
boundary of the property (Casan Mining).
The Gauthier Volcanics have undergone very little
exploration with the exception of the work done at the
L'pper Beaver Mines (Au, Cu ) found at the contact of the
Gauthier Volcanics nnd the Kinojovis Group nlioul t.wo n i i c-
to tlie East of this group.
A similar felsic volcanic set.t ing lias boe-n mapped
across Currie, Bowman, Guibord and Hislop Townships and
lias seen more exploration: the T i l lex S.\ridicatc baee m^l.-t
discovery; the Ross Mine (Au) Gunnex zone and '"rer*!: /.one,
all of which are found v: i thin the highly altered felsic
ip.ar!:er liorizon.

GENERAL GEOLOGY PAG M "
The rocks in Gauthier Twp. are Arciiean in age
and are part of the Abitibi Greenstone ESelt. The rocks
in the township consist of Temiskamini? volcanics and
sediments which uncomformabiy overlie Kecwatin acid to
basic volcanics. This unconformity extends from .iust
South of Victoria Lake and strikes generally Sou t.hens t-
Northwest through the township. The unconformity crosses
the East township line l 1/2 ;niles North of l.ho Soiithe-st
corner of the township. Small syenite stocks intrude all
rock types. The major structural feature i.n the r.ownsi! i p
is the Larder Lake "break" which is exposed at Dobie and
strikes Southeast to Fork Lake in the Southeast :-uv:iev ---l
the township. The Northwest extension o i' the fault j s
covered by overburden.
Other faults in the township are the Xortli t rending
Misema River Fault and an Easterly striking shear r.one
that cuts through the Upper Canada Mine property.
Pleistocene sand and gravel which are part of l \ic
Munro lEsker complex are extensive in tin- Nort.h-vos! :in-i
South parts of the township.

LOCATION AND ACCESS PAGE ?,
The claims are accessible by baking HWY Ci G East from
Kirkland Lake to the Esker Park Road (12.8 Km), then
traveling along the Esker Park Road 3.7Km to tile jun
ction of a. sand road to the East of and parallel to,
the Esker Park Road. If you follow this sand road
East for about 2Km you arrive at the western edge of
the grid on the Gauthier 3 property.
PROPERTY GEOLOGY
The property is found entirely within the GAITHIER group of
rocks, a term introduced by L.S.Jensen in the late I970's.
The GAUTHIER assemblage is quite distinct and lias a
stratigraphic position between tho KINOJEYJS to the
north, and the TIMISKAMING sediment to the oolith.
The GAUTHIER group is composed of fragmental rocks with
K-rich cala-alkalic basalt, andesite, and dacite-. Minor
cherty rhyolite tuff occurs toward the top of the group.
There is some evidence to suggest the GAU1HLEK group
is partly sedimentary and partly volcanic in origin
(L.S.Jensen. OGS 1973;.
WORK DONE PAGK l
A BQ diamond drill hole 405 feet in Jensth was drilled
by Heath k Sherwood with 98?i recovery. The hole was logged
in its entirety and 5 samples were sawn. The corn is storod
at the author's residence.
Sample GA-G 319.5-320.5 ytz fc pyrite
Sample GA-7 348 - 349 fragmental pyrite

CONCl.USION
Although the core logged in 93-1 did not produce
obvious mineral values, an intense Ankerite alteration
zone has been identified across t500 feet, t see fin U ) i :i
