Dear Soroptimist Friends,

In December 1995, the Union of the Netherlands could establish an educational foundation thanks to a donation of one of the members. The Foundation is called:

WOMEN EDUCATION FUND EASTERN EUROPE (Fund)

The purpose of the Fund is:

to grant one or more women from Eastern European countries a scholarship for a study or professional training, preferably undertaken in the Netherlands, which, due to financial or other reasons, cannot be provided for at home.

The applicants may be Soroptimists or non-Soroptimists, the only condition is that they are recommended by the Soroptimist Union or by a Single Club.

Each Eastern European Union may nominate up to two candidates and each Single Club one candidate.

Candidates are required to fill out in English, preferably typed in Word or PDF, the Application Form, a copy of which is attached hereto. The completed Application Form(s) of candidate(s) must be accompanied by the documents required (see Instructions for applicants 2 a, b, c, and d) and should reach the Secretary of the Fund before March 15, 2017.

Applications incompletely filled out or lacking documentation will not be taken into consideration.

The grantees will be selected by the Board of the Fund at their meeting in the month of April 2016 and the funding will be available from August 15th 2017.

The Board of the Fund will seek to provide to those who receive a scholarship, otherwise support during their studies through the Dutch soroptimist organization.

If the grantee should find herself unable to make use of the grant as planned, in whole or in part, she should immediately inform the President of the Union/ Single Club that has recommended her, and the Secretary of the Fund.

Unutilized funds must be returned, for which the Union/Single Club will be responsible.

The Union / Single Club is responsible for the way in which the grant is utilized

The Union / Single Club is responsible for monitoring the grantee and the submission of a report by the grantee upon completion of her program.

1. Applications must be submitted on the attached form, in English, typed in Word or PDF, or written in print-script. Applications must be received by the secretary of the Fund before March 15, 2017. They can be sent by mail, but in any case have to be returned by post, duly signed, with all the accompanying documents that are required.

2. All questions must be answered completely. Do not use abbreviations but full names. Applications should also include the following attachments:

a) a Curriculum Vitae;

b) a statement of purpose, describing the programme indicated under item D of the application form;

c) a detailed specification with relevant documentation of the amount of money applied for, with a maximum of Euro 2500,-

d) a language certificate, issued by a qualified person or institution, if the candidate wishes to study in a country where the language is different from her own.

Certificates and recommendations in languages other than English must be accompanied by a translation.
