Middle jog You can make settings when feeding paper one by one with the upstream unit (sheet feeder and so on) connected. One jog movement is performed every time the number of sheets is specified while feeding paper. Select from 0.2 to 9.When 0 is specified, jog movement is not performed while feeding paper.

Handfeed When handfeeding paper, you can specify how many times you are going to insert paper before a stitch is applied. When the specified number of handfeed is complete, a stitch will be applied. Select from 1 to 9.

P-Roll(Press roller)

Set it to On when using the 6 page insert-kit (option).

F-Convey(Folding conveyance belt)

Specify whether to keep the folding conveyance belt turning even after paper has reached the folding stopper. Normally set it to Off. Only when "no stitch/fold" is selected, set it to On to stabilize a folding position by pressing a booklet against the folding stopper.

Stitch (Stitching test) Used to check stitching conditions. When set to "Stitch" from "Off," paper stops at the stitching section and pressing the start key or test key starts stitching. The stitched paper will be ejected to the fold stacker. This can be used only for saddle stitching.

Chapter 2 Basic Operation1. Turning on the PowerThis machine has a main power switch and a power switch.

WhentheupstreamunitisconnectedtothismachineWhen the upstream unit is connected to this machine, set the main power switch to "I" and the power switch to off. The remote function allows this machine to turn on/off by pressing the power switch for the upstream unit.

Power saving modeWhen this machine is not touched for more than 30 minutes, the machine enters the power saving mode automatically. The back light of the LCD display will be turned off and the LED indicator will blink slowly. When the upstream unit is not connected to the DBM-350, press the start key of the DBM-350.

Chapter 2 Basic Operation5. Checking a Finished SetCheck the binding condition of the booklet discharged in the step mode. Fine adjustment is required when sheets are not aligned, or the stitching or folding position is unsatisfactory.

5-1. When Sheets Are Not Aligned

It is necessary to adjust thestitching side joggers.

It is necessary to adjust thestitching stopper.

It is necessary to adjust both thestitching stopper and the stitchingside joggers.

● The sheets of paper are not aligned along the length.

● The sheets of paper are not aligned along the side.

● The sheets of paper are not aligned along the length and side.

Adjust the distance between the right and left stitching side joggers and the position of the stitching stopper. You can adjust the positions of the stitching side jogger and the stitching stopper in the range of ±5 mm/±0.20 inch from the position set in the memory.

5-3. Adjusting Stitching and Folding Positions Simultaneously

1-4. Straightening WireTo ensure good stitches, it is important that the wire enters the swivel in straight vertical line. Although straightness is set at the factory, every roll of wire has varying degrees of twist which make it necessary for the user to properly straighten the wire prior to production as well as during normal production.

Donotuseflammablespraysorsolventinsideorneartheunit(e.g.whencleaningtheunit).Such flammable gas may ignite and cause a fire or combustion.Take precautions against fire and ensure ventilation when using alcohol, and store thealcohol in a safe place after use. Also note that use of other solvents can damage therubber rollers and resin inside the unit, resulting in malfunctions.

Chapter 6 Troubleshooting Guide2. Paper JamWhen the upstream unit has stopped because of emergency stop, this machine also stops. If the paper inside the machine is torn, open the cover to remove it. If the paper is not torn, you can eject paper using the forcible ejection key.

● Whenpaperhasjammedinsidethemachine,anerrormessageisdisplayedandthemachinestopsconveyingpaper.Howevertheerrormessagemaynotbedisplayeddependingonthesituation.Ifthemachinestops,checkthemachineforanypaperjam.

● Whenthismachineisconnectedtotheupstreamunit,donotturnofforonthepowerswitchofthismachine.Thismaycausemalfunction.Makesurethatyouturnofforonthemainpowerswitchorthepowerswitchoftheupstreamunit.

When paper cannot be ejected using the forcible ejection keyIf jammed paper cannot be removed using the forcible ejection key, remove it by hand. If the machine gets jammed at the stitching section, it can be removed easily by hand.

If the clearance between the rollers is too wide for the paper thickness, set it smaller. If too narrow, set it to wider. ( p.2-25)

The press folding rollers are dirty. Clean the rollers. ( p.5-6)Paper alignment is poor at the stacker unit.

The position of the paper guide roller unit is not appropriate.

Adjust the position of the paper guide roller unit. ( p.2-23)

The timing of when the stacker belt starts moving is too fast or too slow for the booklet size.

When the booklet size is large, make the start timing of the stacker belt earlier.Decrease the value of "Stack-B Start T" in the function menu. If the booklet size is small, increase the value.

The operating time of the stacker belt is too long or too short for the booklet size.

If the booklet size is large, make the operating time of the stacker belt longer. Increase the value of "Stack-B Oper T" in the function menu. If the booklet size is small, decrease the value.

Paper alignment on the non-fold stacker is poor.

The position of the guide on the non-fold stacker is not appropriate.

Adjust the position of the guide on the non-fold stacker. ( p.2-24)

Power on/off is not linked to the upstream unit.

The settings of the main power switch and the power switch are incorrect.

Check that the settings of the main power switch and the power switch are correct. ( p.2-2)

The machine does not start operation even after pressing the start key.

You pressed the start key of the machine when it is connected to the upstream unit.
