A fruitful moment occurred when I had a saint who struggled every day to control her temper and follow directions. Her self esteem was very low and she had a difficult time getting along with others in her class. We began to meet each morning for prayer. We asked God to grow love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control through her each day. It didn’t take long for God to transform her into a fruit bearing vessel. Eventually, she was able to recognize moments that upset her and she sought the Lord in prayer instead of acting defiantly. She was able to make great friends and her grades improved too. MY FRUITFUL STORY... • M.Ed Administration & Supervision/ Curriculum -LU 2014 • B.S. A fruitful moment of JOY occurred when I had a saint who had a hard time identifying numbers and counting. He would often get discouraged and give up when he didn’t know the numbers his friends knew. He was very hard on himself for a four year old. With a lot of encouragement from his family and me, he completed extra activities at home and school. He met his goal! By the end of the year, he knew his numbers, counted very well, and was even able to do math problems using manipulatives. He’s so proud of himself and so am I!

A fruitful moment of PEACE occurred when I had a saint that struggled tremendously in the beginning of his kindergarten year. He started out not being able to read and not knowing all of his letters and letter sounds. He did not like to read and did not have any confi dence. By implementing strategic intervention that utilized the reading specialist, parent involvement, and classroom strategies, we were able to help him build his confi dence and reading skills. By the end of the year he was reading successfully and he even told me “Mrs. Z, I love to read now!”

MY FRUITFUL STORY... One of the most fruitful and encouraging PATIENCE teaching moments occurred when one of my saints was struggling with reading at the beginning of her fi rst grade year. She was barely reading at a beginning kindergarten level, and found that most books were too challenging for her. Reading was a frustrating chore. Through targeted instruction, shared reading experiences, and immersion in quality literature, this saint began to improve. By the end of the year, she was reading at a beginning second grade level, having increased eleven reading levels over the course of the year! Most importantly, this student developed a love of reading that will continue for the rest of her life.

MY FRUITFUL STORY... A fruitful moment of KINDNESS & GOODNESS occurred when I had a saint who found creative writing especially challenging. When it was time for independent writing, he would put his head on his desk and ask for a break. Through the implementation of Writer’s Workshop, this saint learned to enjoy expressing himself through writing, which ultimately became his favorite activity. This love of writing inspired him to share the strategies he learned with others who found writing challenging, showing GOODNESS and KINDNESS to his classmates.

How do you spell FAITHFULNESS if you are a fourth grade saint struggling with comprehending fi ctional chapter books? I spell it: J-O-U-R-N-A-L ! That is precisely what enabled this particular saint to improve her comprehension and become more confi dent in her reading. By jotting down brief summaries of characters and events after reading each chapter, she was able to put the pieces together from the beginning to the end. She is now a faithful reader of fi ctional chapter books!

A fruitful moment of GENTLENESS occurred when I watched my rising fi fth graders enter their new classroom. They were eager to bloom knowledge and sprout new ideas gained from reading the great books in fi fth grade. One student, however, entered the classroom thinking about the struggles she faced. Her reading lexile score was 443 (approx. a 2.5 grade level). With an individualized plan in place, we worked on strategies to strengthen areas of diffi culty. Through this gentle and positive approach, God helped my special saint increase her lexile level to a 798 (approx. a 5.0 grade level). She ended the year with an enthusiasm for reading with the rest of her classmates.

A pinnacle moment of SELF-CONTROL occurred when a saint was overcome by the infl uences of the world. As her priorities drifted more towards the world and less on God, she continued to struggle and challenges continued to mount. Her parents and I worked together to address the issues and help her regain her focus on a having a relationship with Christ. Although consequences resulted from a few bad choices, forgiveness and God’s grace overshadowed it all. She showed SELF-CONTROL; she humbly, graciously, and wholeheartedly accepted her mistakes. Together at home, church, and school we corrected everything and observed how God used it all for good.

One of my most memorable fruitful moments of LOVE occurred this past year when one of my saints was having a diffi cult time adjusting while his father was away on deployment. He was easily upset and would cry or become angry during times of transition throughout the day. This was affecting his ability to participate and he was falling behind developmentally. I comforted him during these challenging moments, and reminded him that we all feel sad or mad sometimes. I assured him that God’s love can give him comfort when he’s upset, and encouraged him to use his words to express his feelings. Eventually, he improved his ability to exhibit self-control and sharpened his school readiness skills. This saint developed a LOVE for school and learning; I was reminded why I LOVE teaching preschool!

MY FRUITFUL STORY... One LOVING moment was when I taught a saint with separation anxiety. The transition from home to school was diffi cult and she would continually burst into tears. She wouldn’t speak, interact with peers, or engage in class activities. Through prayer, her parents and I were able to fi nd a way to make her fi rst experiences positive. Slowly with patience, love, and the assurance of comforting arms, a new child began to emerge. Before long she was engaging in class activities, communicating with peers, and developing excitement for school. By the end of the year she displayed love, excelled academically, and became a social butterfl y and class leader. She taught me how to successfully plant a fruit bearing seed of love.

A fruitful event happened when a young saint was upset when his mother dropped him off in morning care. He would cry and hang on to her. This was causing his parents distress as well as starting his day negatively. I searched for strategies that would help build his confi dence and reassure him that his mother would return, while showing him that he could have fun while he waited. With a lot of prayers, love and attention he learned he could come in, have fun, and see his mom at the end of the day. We all grew PATIENCE and LOVE through this experience.

Patience, kindness, and gentleness are what PACs (Personal Academic Coaching Service) is all about. My fruitful story is about a fi rst grade saint that spoke and understood very little English. All of his grades were suffering because of this and he did not want to participate in class or recess. I met with him every day. In partnership with his teacher, we worked on targeted ESL strategies. Soon the saint began to communicate with the other children. After one quarter of coaching, a school board member told me she had seen a dramatic difference in his reading. This little saint continued to grow throughout the year, and began to fi nd success in all of his subjects.

MY FRUITFUL STORY...

ANGEL FIELDFINANCIAL SECRTARY / ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

Fruit bearing requires us to trust God. Trusting in God’s promises is what I see each and every day as the Financial Secretary for CCA. Trust and faith is what brought our family to CCA. Through diligent prayer and seeking God’s will for our children’s education God laid it on our hearts for them to attend CCA. It required us to step out in faith and follow His leading when we couldn’t possibly imagine how He would provide for us fi nancially. We trusted that He was able. Our oldest will start her journey at CCA this fall and we know that God is providing the way. I am anxious to serve the CCA families and see God’s provisions in their lives, too.

A fruitful moment occurred when a saint fell on the gym fl oor and landed on his nose resulting in a serious nosebleed. This saint demonstrated SELF-CONTROL as he listened to my directions and did not panic. The PEACE (the peace that believers can experience during times of hardship) he exuded was contagious, having a calming effect to those surrounding him. I was so very proud of him. The next day he even demonstrated LOVE and KINDNESS by thanking me with a hand-written card and bringing me my favorite soft-drink. Being able to daily witness and experience our young saints bearing fruit fi lls my heart with so much joy!
