I have worked for over 16 years in the care sector, and have gained experience in different sectors
of care, I have my NVQ 1 AND NVQ 2 in care and also have my phlebotomy certificate which I
completed last year at a level 3.
I am able to work using my own initiative while supporting a team of staff and other healthcare
professionals, at all times ensuring that service user care procedures and practices and health and
safety guidelines are adhered to.
My aim is to continue to work with people; supporting people who require care themselves; in a
healthcare setting, a nursing, residential or day service setting. I would also like to continue to

I play a key role providing and being responsible for the delivery of residential and nursing care
services. Focusing upon supporting residents/service users with their daily needs, always working

As Activity Coordinator, I was required to line manage a team of staff. I was responsible for
planning the aims, objectives and priorities of their work. I would conduct regular scheduled one to
one meetings with staff to discuss activities, priorities, progress and problems.
I was responsible for deploying the resources within my control i.e. people's time; money and other
resources to achieve plans. I would ensure value for money by managing and monitoring budgets
and making the best use of resources.
I managed and promoted health and safety in the department and risk assessed activities off site.
I provided a wide range of activities to interest and stimulate the service users physically and
mentally. Privacy, dignity, independence, choice, rights and fulfilment for all service users was
maintained at all times.
I motivated and guided the care staff to support the service users in activities of their choice.
I carried out regular assessments and reviews with service users to ensure that we provided the
best care plans and offered a high standard service.
I chaired meetings and prepared agendas and minutes. I produced this information in a range of
different formats to ensure accessibility.
I would run workshops onsite at Thingwall Hall and in the local community. I worked closely with
other managers, staff, service users and community groups or businesses to create community
initiatives.
I have worked with people with physical and learning difficulties and people in the community who
have experienced drug and alcohol addiction. I still work voluntary for a community group that
supports people with disabilities, their family and friends.
