Newtown hall committee.   On Friday the 13th of September we celebrated our 3rd anniversary of our rambling house. A brilliant night’s entertainment was had by everyone and we would like to thank everyone who has entertained and supported us during the last three years.  We look forward to your continued support and to welcome new people on the second Friday of every month. As a thank you we gave extra cash prizes in the raffle. These were won by Carmel Sinnott, Susan Cushen, Lizzy Nolan, Deirdre Coleman and Frances Wickham. Raffle winners on the night were Ellen fortune, Dick Adams, Laura Mullett, Josie Kelly, Bridget Mullett, Brendan Byrne, Ned Kirwan, Margaret Lawless, Chris Evans, Ann Quigley and Evelyn Dolan. The Annual Graignamanagh U11 Tournament took place last Saturday 28th Sept.A total  of 6 teams comprised of nearly 100 players and their supporters brought a big crowd to Dr Tierney Park. Graignamanagh, Bennettsbridge, Glenmore, Cloughbawn, St. Mullins & Blacks & Whites.With a panel of 18 boys, the Graignamanagh team who have been showing steady improvement lately saved their best performance of the year to beat Bennetsbridge in the Cup Final. There was great hurling skills and determination on display from the boys and we are super proud of them.The team was captained on the day by Sean O' Grady who was presented with the Cup by Kilkenny Senior player John Donnelly.In the B final Glenmore defeated Cloughbawn & Blacks & Whites defeated St. Mullins in the C final.A big thank you to everyone who helped out on the day preparing the pitches, providing refreshments & helping out with catering etc. A special word of thanks to Denis O’Brien, Jayo Grady, Paul Dowling & Peter Murphy for their great work and commitment throughout the year.
