Dear Parents/Carers

As we come to the end of a very busy term and approach the Christmas holidays I wanted to thank you for your continued support throughout 2017. We are all committed to take the school from its current Ofsted grade to “Good” within the next year. The success of our work can be seen already in terms of attainments with our KS1, KS2 and Phonics screening test results from 2017, which I have summarised for you below.

Key GPS- Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling EXP- Expected GDP-Greater Depth

This year there has been a transformation in the Early Years provision with Ms Campbell who is providing outstanding leadership. The curriculum is engaging with a clear pathway towards excellence. Other areas that we have focussed on include ensuring all children feel proud to be part of the Davidson Community. It was an honour to lead our first special achievement assembly this week where children had the opportunity to shine through their individual achievements. The new “Breakfast with the Principal” has also allowed children to be recognised for their positive attitude. The new uniform has also helped to raise aspirations in the school and the children look extremely smart. We have high expectations of the quality of our teaching staff and the turn over of staff is not unusual of a school when it is coming out of an Ofsted category. However I am confident with the current staffing structure that we now have the strongest teaching team that the school has seen for many years. Personally I am extremely proud to be the Principal of Davidson and know that with the support of the Senior Leadership team and the committed teaching staff we will continue our journey to ensure Davidson continues to shine. Once again thank you for your support throughout 2017 and I wish you all a very safe and festive Christmas. Yours faithfully

Ms Dando Principal

REMINDER: WE ARE A NUT FREE SCHOOL

There are children in our school who has a severe, life-threatening allergy to nuts including: Peanuts, Pecans , Walnuts , Hazelnuts , Cashew, Macadamia, Brazil nuts and other nuts and nut flavourings. Items that may contain one or more of these are Kinder Bueno, Happy Hippo, Nutella, peanut butter, etc. To children with nut allergies, touching, eating or being in close proximity of someone who has eaten some of these items may provoke a severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) and in some cases death. For the safety of our pupils we are asking all parents not to send any food containing these items to school.

NITS AND HEADLICE

Information about head lice Anyone can get head lice…mainly through direct head-to-head contact but also from sharing hats, brushes and other personal items. Head lice are a problem in many communities and do not reflect poor hygiene or social status. Please do your part to prevent the spread of this communicable condition by checking your child(ren) daily for the next few weeks, and on a regular basis thereafter. Lice infestation is much easier to treat if caught early. If you should discover a case of head lice, please notify the office. Notify the parents of your child’s playmates. This is the best way to protect your family and community. For further information please contact the National Pediculosis Associa-tion at [email protected] or visit www.headlice.org.
