Analysis of song:

This song was written in 1967. Hey Joe is a song of the first album of The Jimi Hendrix Experience (group of Jimi Hendrix). The name of album are Are you experience. This album beats records.

This song represent maltreatment of men over women. The speaker is omniscient. At the beginning is in 3st person, but at the finally of song the speaker is in 1st person.

When I listen this song, I imagine a man in the darkness. He shots at a woman. After he escapes in a car.

The lenguage of this song is simple. Hendrix uses same lines sometimes and hey joe is free verse, doesn’t follow any poetic form and the words rhyme at the end of lines, but in the middle of lines sometimes too. In this ages (1960-70’s), ghettos of America lived a brutal violence, Hendrix tried to express this violence.

Analysis of poem:

This poem has very short verses. The plums represent a type of treachery like an infidelity, so the poem is a metaphor. I think this way because the words the poet uses aren’t the words used in ordinary life, but in poetry.

About the form of this poem, I need to say that the lines are very short, no more than 4 syllables, and the stanzas have got 4 lines. This poem doesn’t follow any poetic form. The words rhyme at the end of lines. The poet used usual words, as if the speaker talks with a friend, girlfriend or boyfriend. The speaker is in 1st person and he’s an omniscient narrator.

The sentences are broken and they are divided in two lines or more. The writer talks to the reader, I mean, the poem is address to his couple or his friend. I think that the writer want to talk about infidelity, but with frankness. The writer talks about treachery with delicacy because he writes this in age of repression.
