FARNSWORTH HOUSE VISITOR CENTER PLANO, IL
Created as a way of enhancing a visitor’s
view of the site and its natural elements,
the center weaves natural systems with
the built structure. Instead of focusing on
external views, the building brings
elements, such as the stream, into the
building allowing for unique interior
experiences that become memorable
moments in a visitor’s journey.

AGGREGATE
Another important task in this project was
to create a component that could be
aggregated as part of the form of the
building. Designed with a straight and
undulating side, the component used in
this design allows it to form many different
architectural elements as well as the
ability for it to create varied degrees of
opacity with the surrounding landscape.
OLYMPIC INFORMATIONHUBCHICAGO, IL
Created as a proposed location to hold
various activities during the proposed
Chicago 2016 Olympic Games, this
information center is designed to
resemble a hilly landscape. The use of
stepped slopes and large open areas
creates a multifunctional space in which
visitors can circulate, sit, eat, or watch
entertainment.
4 OLYMPIC INFORMATION HUB
MICHIGAN AVE
TERRACE
Through mimicry of landforms the form
focuses the gaze of visitors on walls of
information. Voids within the form allow
for more private program to be buried
beneath the chaotic surface. The sitting
of the building also allows for prominent
views of Chicago’s “bean”, and is lifted
above the ground plan for integration of
transportation systems and Millennium
Park circulation.
FRICK MEMORIALPARKPITTSBURGH, PA
A landscape studio exploration, this
project is a memorial located within
Pittsburgh’s Frick Park. Designed as a
sequence of spaces that increases in
privacy with a guest’s progression through
ritual and site, the park runs on axial
symmetry ending in four distinct
landscapes; the final resting place of the
deceased.
6 FRICK MEMORIAL PARK
The four memorial-scape types allow for
differentiated spaces for the placing of
the urns. Each final resting place is truly
unique, creating a deeply personal place
and significant memory for those by which
the decease is survived. Stone stacked
walls act and guides for visitors and
create a cohesive materiality to the
project.

SIGNATURE THEATRECOMPANYNEW YORK, NY
Designed as a series of floating wood
volumes, this theatre complex is designed
in order to aesthetically highlight the
presence of the theatre volumes through
both interior and exterior articulation.
These forms have a distinct impact on the
patrons and their experiential narrative.
10 SIGNATURE THEATRE COMPANY
From their initial entrance into the
complex until the curtain falls, the patrons
are presented with varying views of the
looming volumes and are aware of their
relationship to them. Another element of
this project was the integration of the
complex systems needed for running
three theatres simultaneously.

Doha TowerDoha, Qatar
This tower design brings the discussion of
live-work structures to the rapidly growing
Middle Eastern cityscape. Activated by
public and semi-public spaces, large
atriums create unique shaded environ-
ments within Doha’s arid skyline.
14 DOHA TOWER
The perforated shade screen that wraps
the entire structure has considerable
environmental value in its ability to
reduce heat gain as well as aesthetic
value in the gauzy appearance in
emulates. Grey water is reused to water
the green spaces, which in turn provide
perspiration cooling and dust filtration.

CHATEAU RIVERFRONTHOUSINGPITTSBURGH, PA
A new housing project in Chateau is
proposed for the empty site on the Ohio
Riverfront in Pittsburgh. Situated on the
Heritage Trail and within walking distance
of some of Pittsburgh’s biggest entertain-
ment venues, this is the ideal site for
reassessing the way in which Pittsbur-
ghers begin to repopulate their rivers.
18 CHATEAU RIVERFRONT HOUSING
Plans for the new complex include direct
access to the water and a new dock, a
park/water filtration system with pedes-
trian and biker paths, as well as playing
fields. The goal is to engage an active
community and incite change and
redevelopment.
