Pupil Free day on Tuesday 29th April

The department provides all schools with four

pupil free days per year. We have already had

two at the beginning of the year and we have 2

The Act of Kindness initiative is

something that we have been running in

our school for the past few years. Our

previous sponsor had moved their

business to Melbourne and we are very

pleased that Federation University has

come on board and will sponsor the

program for the next 3 years. At

assembly on Friday Melanie Coffee

represented Federation University and

accepted a framed certificate

acknowledging their sponsorship. We

now look forward to continue using the

Act of Kindness program to promote

thoughtfulness and kindness across our

school community.

District sports Congratulations to the 52 children who represented Buninyong Primary School at the district sports on Monday. They competed very well throughout the day with many of the students progressing to the next round. Well done on a super effort and once again congratulations.

SCHOOL SPORTS Well done to the grade 3-6 students who competed in the School Sports last Thursday. The children displayed great team spirit throughout the day with less than 300pts between 1st and 4th positions. The leader board at the end of the day had Scott:1278 pts, Simpson: 1234pts, Cornish: 1118pts, Inglis:947pts. A big thank you to the Federation University students who helped run the day. Well done to all involved.

On Friday April 4th, our school in conjunction with the Lions Club will be involved in ‘Coins

for Kids’ appeal. The aim of this fundraiser is to prevent children with cancer dying by

raising funds nationally and donating these funds to the best scientific research in

Australia. Half of the money raised on this day will go to the cancer appeal and the other

half will be used to improve our school facilities.

To make this a successful fundraiser, we are encouraging every student to come with any

loose change to put around our netball courts. The more coins we bring the more money

we can raise for this fantastic cause. Thank you for your support.

COFFEE

After assembly on Friday 4th April, Maggie & Kate's coffee trailer will be

offering Coffees and Hot Chocolates for $3.50 and Tea for $3.00. 50c from each

cup sold will be donated towards our Home Readers for our school.

NATIONAL CAMPAIGN TO STAMP OUT BULLYING

Most would be aware that we ran a week long campaign that culminated in everyone at last

week’s assembly joining to make a pledge to stamp out bullying. The whole project was

worthwhile, as we strive to maintain a safe and welcoming school environment for all members

of the school community and it doesn’t hurt to come together to talk openly about what we

value and what we expect.

There are incidences of bullying in any school, but we will always work hard to promote positive

behaviours and deal promptly and thoroughly with cases where behaviours are not meeting our

expectations. Consequently the environment at our school is friendly, welcoming and

supportive and that’s the way we want to keep it.

A big well done to all of our staff and students who embraced the week of activities and to

everyone who participated in making the pledge at assembly on Friday.

Canteen needs Helpers

The Canteen needs more help! I can’t serve all our students by myself. I only ask for a couple of hours

once a month or less.

Parents- Mums, Dads, Grandparents or older siblings are all welcome to lend a hand. The canteen needs

to have 2-3 people on each shift to run smoothly. Wednesdays are a lot busier than Mondays so more

needy.

1st shift collates the orders and prepares food. There is not much contact with the students. 2nd shift fills

the orders with food/ drink ready for collection by 1pm then frozen items are able to be sold from the

window. Lots of student interaction at 1-2pm for window sales! Please tick the form below with your day

and time choice if you can help. Thank you!

Hand into office, teacher or canteen.

Canteen Help

If these shifts don’t suit you then just speak to Tara to discuss other times for you.
