PRINCIPAL’S UPDATE Hello to all,

AFTERNOON PICK UP I would like to thank all of our parents who have helped us maintain social distancing at pick up time in the afternoon. It is so important that until the Health Department regulations are lifted, we maintain vigilance with this. Our lollipop lady starts her afternoon shift at 2:30 (she is employed by Roads and Maritime Services) so please make sure you are super careful when collecting your children and crossing the road before this time. No student is allowed to exit the gates until a parent or carer is there to take responsibility for them.

COMMUNICATION SURVEY In today’s newsletter, you will find a survey that we are asking every family to complete and return to school. There is also a link to a digital version on the school website (please don’t do both!) It’s really important that we get feedback from everyone who has been affected by the changes at a school level due to the COVID-19 disruption. It will help us with our future planning.

SEMESTER 1 REPORTS The semester report for Terms 1 and 2 this year will be a different format due to the disruption in schooling this year. The Department of Education has provided advice to all schools about the reports and we have developed a format that meets all policy requirements. The modified report will focus on the learning that has taken place so far this year, without the usual five-point A-E grading system. Instead, the reports will provide an account of student progress including areas of strength and areas that require further improvement. Although the timeline for delivery of the reports has been extended to halfway through Term 3, we are anticipating ours will be ready by the end of this term.

WELCOME BACK MRS WILD Mrs Wild is back next term! We are so happy that she is dragging herself away from baby Parker and will be back in the hot seat from Monday 20 July. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone-the staff, the parents and carers and especially the students of Wyoming Public School who have made the last few months fly by. 2020 INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS AND ASSESSMENTS (ICAS)

Each year Wyoming Public School offers students in Year 2 - 6 the opportunity to enter the ICAS competition conducted by the University of NSW. The assessments are:

• Digital Technologies (Years 3-6) • Science (Years 2-6) • Spelling (Years 2-6) • English (Years 2-6) • Mathematics (Years 2-6)

The cost of each subject is $15.95. Please note that these tests have been designed for gifted and talented students. All entry fees are to be paid by Friday 3 July 2020 either online or to the Office. Under no circumstances will late payments be accepted. The Principal’s Award Afternoon will be held on Tuesday 30 June. This will be the first Principal’s Award afternoon this year due to Covid-19. Students who have a Principal’s Award are invited to an

WEEKLY AWARDS HONOUR CERTIFICATE An Honour Certificate is awarded when a student has earned ten Certificates of Merit, ten Reading Awards of Excellence, ten Principal’s Awards or a combination. Students may collect their Certificates of Merit, Reading Awards of Excellence and Principal’s Awards over a number of years to earn their Honour Certificate.
