Please be reminded that students will be outside be-fore school starts and dur-ing breaks. Ensure that your child is dressed appropriately for the cold weather.

Winter coat, snow pants, toques, mitts, scarves, and snow boots make recess much more comfortable and enjoyable for students. Unless the temperature is -27 (or colder) with the wind-chill, recess will be outdoors and we’ll maintain the usual entry times of 8:45 am and 12:45 pm. Please make sure your child (ern) do not arrive at school early before school in the morning and at lunch, just at bell time would be ideal.

Bag Up Challenge

The results are in! Mrs. Donnelly’s class counted all the bags brought in from Valleyview’s

students, teachers and families. We collected 5032 bags for the Bag Up Challenge! A big

thank you to all who brought bags to school and kept them from finding a home in our landfill. The bags go to a factory in Winnipeg and from there, they are recycled into usable items such as bird

feeders, planters and park benches.

So You Think You Have it Tough?

School was tough, especially in the olden days. If students needed the washroom, they had to go outside to the smelly, disgusting, bug-filled, awful outhouse. In the winter, the out-house was freezing cold! In the school there were very few windows to let in light, so it was hard to study or read. The only heat was provid-ed by a wood stove. Students had to bring the wood from the freezing cold wood shed to keep them toasty. But if your parents were rich enough, teachers would come right to your house to teach you. Imagine your teacher living with you! So, what makes school so tough for you?
