The accommodation is registered for 16+ young adults both male and female, who have complex needs and challenging behaviour. Darwen House specialise in breaking the cycle of negative behaviours i.e. young adults understanding triggers, rebuilding relationships and understanding the impact of negative peers influences. The team at Darwen House strive to achieve the best outcomes for the young adults within a caring environment. We aim for young adults to feel safe and protected whilst assisting young adults to develop a greater understanding of their behaviours and assist them to reach their full potential. We aim for our residents to have access to a range of facilities within the local community including good healthcare, activities and social clubs. Darwen House aims to ensure all young people can: Be heard/voice of the young adult Be valued and feed in to their care planning Be involved in decision making Access a healthy diet Take part in appropriate sports and physical activity Access information and support regarding sexual health Have access to CAMHS to assess mental or emotional needs Develop resilience and skills in preparation for true adulthood Young people who stay within the home short term will benefit from well-established routines and procedures that meet their needs. It is important that young people develop an understanding of boundaries and clear routines.

Our clients We work with a wide range of clients in both hospital and community settings. Our clients can call on us at extremely short notice, at any time, day or night. They include: NHS trusts Private hospitals Local authorities Private nursing homes Community packages Mental health and learning difficulty units Social services GP practices Inspira care have recently acquired a property in Darwen close to a number of local Park which offers a calm and tranquil environment for young people young people 16-21 who need 2-4 nights respite from their fulltime carers or a longer term. This provision is supported by highly trained staffs who work on a 24/7 supervision bases with young people allowing time to build positive relationships and ensure the short break/respire or long term placements is perceived as a positive for the young people and carers. The home is a 14 bed provision, however will the layout of the property is that young people can have there own space and privacy with all rooms having ensuite bathrooms and a number of living rooms to ensure all young people have a positive experience. Young adults will be given the option of engaging in a range of activities and opportunities for learning that will enhance their personal development and subsequently impact of their future prospects. We have a focus on challenging and reducing the level of aggression in young adults by giving them the opportunity to reflect and learn from negative behaviour choices. By allowing young adults more freedom but also building a relationship of trust we are able to meet key aims as set out by the lead professional. The key activities are as follows: Group work sessions Nature walks Group work and discussions 1-1 sessions Bowling/Cinema/ Worksheets and written exercises Education sessions Independent living session Opportunity to engage in therapeutic services Constructive leisure/diversionary pursuits Incentive scheme
